One half of the brain controls motor function (like moving your hands and arms), while another half controls things like vision, perception, etc. By splitting the brain, perception and motor control are separated and have no way of sending signals to each other, and therefore you can pick up something, but since the brain is split, your part of the brain that perceives things will not know what you picked up or sometimes even that you did pick up something simply because your motor function side of the brain cannot tell your perception part of the brain that you picked something up. (Very complicated, I just gave a very VERY brief description of what happens)

I honestly kinda understood the sciencey thing, but let me explain as best I can. *deep breath* So, the left side of your brain controls the right side of your body, and vise versa, so for people who are left-handed, the right side of their brain is dominant. that means that if you only have the right side of your brain, you won't really be able to control the left side of your body. I think, at least. this might not make a lot of sense but I tried.
