Watch out for the heat that comes out of the back of those things Bob. I found that with longer programs whatever is behind the oven gets seriously hot. I don’t know the manufactures recommendations but I give my combi oven 10+inches clearance behind it on the countertop after a slightly worry experience with a hot socket (rather than a hot pocket) :-)

I just took apart one today..they have NO insulation at all, none. Unlike a normal oven. So if you cook something for any length of time, it is going to get everything around it hot. I just got one of these ovens and it says that we need to have 8 inches of clear space above it and around the sides, but if you’ve got it in that custom space you designed, I guess we don’t really need to -? And have you made toast in it? I assume you put the bread on the grill pan with the legs extended and then flip the bread over halfway through…

My only wants would be metered steam addition (/humidity control) for *b r e a d*, a rotisserie (with adapter for multi small kebabs instead of only B i g C h i c k e n), and a self cleaning function. One of those scanners like those “Smart Ovens” (although hopefully self hosted/open source, not all cloud dependent) would be a neat addition (not a full need though, especially with programmable stuff like this one) Otherwise, as you pointed out, something like this is my DREAM for a Van/RV/Tiny Home Kitchen!

For those commenting re the mfr saying you can’t put it in a closet/cabinet etc keep in mind all these disclaimers are written by engineers and lawyers to shield themselves from as much potential liability as possible. Clearly the requirement is that it needs sufficient airflow to allow for safe operation. Anytime you’re deviating from the designed operating conditions you’re assuming all liability and voiding any claims and warranties of the product or damages caused by its use. Proceed with caution. Or, use common sense and just read between the lines of what you need to do to make something work, and get crafty!

Interesting Review (Thank you, Bob) And, preceeding comments well noted! A quick question of concern, regarding cleaning the 1930's heating element ... !? Sooner of later; the oven side of the cooking ... it's heating element in the top of the microwave (which is very exposed) '''will'''; sooner of later, get food particles up on it (for example, a great round of cheese-on-toast) those particles, will get roasted and burnt onto that element ... !? How can you easily clean that element of all burnt food particles, without, leaning in there with a little pan scrubber and scrubbing off all those burnt particles ... and thats if you can get them all off! You won't ... !!! Especially around where the heating element mounts to the inner oven casing ... !? Does the element, pop-out for easy cleaning ... !? A 2022 '3-in-1' microwave with a 1930's cleaning problem ... !? Or, is there a button you press and some magic Genie (dressed in her little nothings ... !) pop out and clean the oven for you ... Haha! I don't want to go backwards in time; having to put on a full set of overalls and climb in there every so often to de-coke that 1930's heating element; and, if you '''don't''' clean it, every so often; YOU WILL GET A SMOKER, AND PERHAPS WORSE ... Weep !? Love any thoughts ... !? Best ... William (Hampshire UK)

@superfood15454 жыл бұрын
I get how they say you need 8” clearance in the back but I doubt most people follow this rule. Standard counter depth is about 25-26 inches. The unit is 20” deep. That means most avg people need to have this microwave hanging off their counters lol!

i don't see a self-cleaning function, so if you grill a steak, with all that fat splattering, how do you clean it? That's an important issue, because even roasting a chicken is going to cause fat splatters that have to be removed. Yes, it's convenient, saves a lot of countertop space, but it also indicates you have to have 8" clearance all the way around for it to work properly, which could be a deal breaker for a lot of people. I love Breville, and 99% of my kitchen is Breville, however as great as this unit it, it has only a one year warranty, and then there's the clean-up issue.
