I was at the public rehearsal at Covent Garden the first time he sang the role with Leontina Vaduva. It was 11.00am: I was tired and hungover. What a cure! And I haven't heard it sung better, either before or after!

Grande Roberto, il miglior Romeo che io abbia ascoltato in vita mia e non sono più un ragazzino. Fino a qualche mese fa esisteva su KZbin una edizione completa dell'opera proprio con Roberto Alagna. Una edizione favolosa che io ascoltavo quasi tutti i giorni ma che è stata rimossa e non so perchè. Vorrei tanto che fosse ripubblicata.

His voice has matured and his technique improved since his Covent Garden triumph with Leontina Vaduva but there is less passion. That was a magical performance and remains my favorite despite a few technical glitches.

Une belle et triste histoire merveilleusement chantée par ces deux immenses artistes ! Roberto Alagna est un très beau Roméo, sa voix et son jeu d'acteur sont incroyables, dommage le texte en français donne quelques problèmes à Anna Netrebko, superbe Juliette sur le plan scénique! La mise en scène, costumes et décors sont remarquables! Très envie de revoir ces deux là, j'en oublie les autres partenaires!...

Afraid not. I know it aired on PBS- Great Performances 2008-9. Any copies available would be through anybody who was able to record it when it aired on their DVR or VHS. :-/

To my knowledge, I don't think this version of Romeo et Juliette w/ Alagna, Netrebko, & Placido Domingo is available to purchase on DVD or Blu-Ray. It did air on PBS Great Performances in 2008-9 and was able to record it on VHS. I don't see anything on the Met Opera page that says you can get access to the whole performance if you join....
