@libro07 I am also one who thinks Josep Carreras's voice in his greatest years - and often beyond - transports us to the zenith of warmth, power and emotion. His voice is simply devastatingly beautiful. He can rip out your soul, or restore it to peace. I particularly appreciate your pointing out the loss to the public who only know him from the 3 tenors. They have missed out on a rare miracle of sound and heart.

yes. his voice like a beautiful piece of Jade, not harsh mental, so youthful with fresh sparkles... his texture is total unique and I will never be tired of his glorious singing. People did not give him credit on his stage presence and artistry. Total package is next to no one.

Para un tenor estar en la primera terna de tenores tiene que tener una carrera completa. Carreras en plenitud duro muy poco, con 40 años ya tenía graves problemas de emisión de voz y antes de la enfermedad. Tenía una bellísima pero una técnica poco sana y unido a la mala elección de repertorio, desembocó en un declive temprano.

It is sad that his prime only lasted for a short time because his singing was amazing from 1975-1978

I have never listened to him before, other than in passing, and I am amazed at what I have missed. He has a Corelli quality with added sweetness. Why was his prime so short? It's so sad! I believe he developed cancer at some point -- was that in 1978?

His prime was shortened presumably by choosing roles that were a bit too heavy. His cancer was in the mid 80's but by the early 80's the bloom was gone from his voice. From 74-78 he was pure magic.
