After going through this myself, I have found the 4000 hours isn't the hard part to get, those accumulate naturally I think with consistent uploads. This was an excellent breakdown. One way I drive more watch time is to promote a video from within a playlist series. Then, once they watch one video, they’ll get served another video from my channel. It was a strategy that worked really well for my third fully monetized channel. People watched the video I promoted, then also watched more videos while they were at it.
@TheNeonMind3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. My playlists get like zero views. This strategy does not work for me.
@DaleLRoberts3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNeonMind link from within the playlist. Instead of using the share link, use the super URL. You can always link shorten it or allow YT to truncate it. So, when someone visits the link to watch your video, they’ll drop into a playlist. Once they start watching the one video, they’ll automatically be cued up for the next video in the series. If you do a regular share, you’re leaving it up to KZbin to select the next video your viewer sees.

I have found that is best not to care about the length of the video just make sure you would be engaged to watch the whole thing. Shorter length doesn't mean purple will watch longer.

I create both 5-minute videos and 15-30 minute videos by combing my shorter videos together. I started this about 2 months ago and my watch time started going up. Great tips. I always tend to do my videos only as long as they need to cause I want to keep them tight. In recent times I have a bit reduced the frequency of videos so that can put more into a single one so my last videos are longer. The last "news" one even being 10 minutes. And to be honest this is less stressful getting out 1 video per week rather than multiple or even daily but put more effort into that 1 video.
