What is Star Citizen?
Star Citizen is the ultimate space trading and combat simulator video game for PC with support for Windows and Linux. Taskmaster Jup, exploring the PU is probably the most exciting thing for me. Hope we will also get stuff like thunderstorms in space (like in Event Horizon). There also was something quite interesting in space, when they showed the first the multi-crew gameplay in the live-stream!

Probably won't, unfortunately. Lets be realistic, think about GTA5 as a benchmark, they had $265,000,0000 and multiple big studio's to make that game and it took a long time too. Now how much have these guys had and how much smaller is their team? It's hard to believe they can build an entire galaxy (universe?) that you can explore like this and still keep it really high quality, the quality of stuff they've shown so far being higher than GTA5 too so even with the same resources they could do less. Maybe I'm completely wrong and they find a way to pull it off in a reasonable time frame, but it does seem almost impossible.

Erudite At the very very beginning, yes, late 2014 was the planned release date. Then they made $20 million in crowd funding in 8 months, and the game expanded in scope by a considerable amount. LOTS more content, hugely improved quality of content. Basically they realized they could shoot for the moon and are going for it full throttle with an eye towards Mars. Now, the planned release timeline is Squadron 42 in mid to late 2015, and the Persistent Universe in early to mid 2016.

I do belive that they are behind schedule as well. For example this months' subscriber flair isn't actually ingame - instead, the subscribers have to wait for the 2.6 release to recive their flair item. This doesn't usually happen, so i assume that CIG expected that they would've released 2.6 by now, but they are behind schedule. I do hope we get 2.6 still in 2016, and a friend of mine had the idea that maybe they will just skip 2.6 and push out 3.0 alltogether (given the two updates focus on different things and are developed in paralell to each other). This year also brings winter holidays and the anniversary sale with it, during which we most likely won't see any update - so my guess is either they push out 3.0 directly, or it'll be 2.6 this year and we need to wait for 2017 for 3.0 - i don't see two updates happening within a month and a half.

Knighted Guardian I heard there will be lot of exploration elements in ME4 but I'm not interested in Bioware anymore . Most of the talent have left the company and others just focus way too much on "sex" and social justice simulation than actual gameplay . Look at Dragon Age 2 . What a disaster . Look at ME3 ending . Disaster . Dragon Age Inquisition is the most important game from Bioware . Hopefully they'll pull it off or I'm done with them .

Vidyadude This is their marketing, it draws in a lot of new backers every time they do a commercial. Also, it's practice for doing their in-game cinematics, so it's really a cost effective thing to produce these videos. kxmode this is all work in progress, the animations, especially the faces, are a lot better than in the previous commercials. It only going to get better as time goes on and they get more experience.

Rastislav Palugyay You're clearly an idiot if you really think the game will look this good. You can render almost photorealistic scenes in cry-egnine, that does not fucking mean you can run it well. Remember, in this video there are barely any calculations to be made. No ai, no physics, no gameplay, no nothing. It's all pre-baked. No "in-engine" trailer EVER has looked like the actual released product. The game will look similar but please don't expect it to look as good.

Eh, the Prime Directive sucks. Watch enough Star Trek and you realise that the Prime Directive is just a mindless dogma the Federation clings to, while it allows endless suffering and death. They have the little disclaimer about the Fair Chance act and how interfering with an undocumented alien species is punishable under UEE law, but what about when the UEE itself decides its going to interfere? Say, a planet is discovered with valuable resources or is a strategic location, but it has some primitive cave aliens living on it? Do they say "Oh well, its got some cave aliens, we better look elsewhere for out new Naval Station" or do they break out the napalm?

weldonwin The UEE would set up a fleet aorund the planet ot prevent corporations and outlaws from interfering if anything. You see, during the great dictatorship known as the Messer era after the first man who took control of all government functions (Ivar Messer), the UEE was a fascist regime that annihilated species by agressively terraforming their planets (they even tried to terraform a plannet in which a spacefaring race was living, leading to a cold war situation). After the general populace took notice of this (and after centuries of enduring mandatory work in the war industry and abusive taxes to pay for the monuments and luxuries of the whol dinasty) They overthrew the Messer dinasty and tried to make it up by stablishing the Fair Chance act and more or less forbidding terraforming of planets if it would mean extinction of alien life. The UEE actually has the problem that it is trying too hard being good, to the point that they engaged on the building of an artificial planet called Synthworld as a symbol to show they don't need to terraform planets. Unofrtunately this initiative isn't any closer to being completed after flushing trillions of credits into its construction (alledgedly due to corruption). Tl:DR: On a global level the UEE is good. The imperator, the senate and the advocacy generally being good, but in some systems lesser institutions have widespread corruption

So erm... Where are you going with the planetary exploration with this? Land down & give the entire rock a name? Build houses & small colonies on there? Boring mmo grinds on the planets? How big is a planet? Generic MMO zone big? Skyrim big? Generic MMO realm big? Does this mean these explorer ships will need at least 4 people to fly the? How does that gonna work? 1 person & 3 NPCs?

We don't have any solid details on how exploration on planets is going to work, but zones on a planet will be a limited area on launch as they're hand crafting it all, with procedural generation possibly coming after release to open up entire planets. It seems likely you'll be able to name a planet if you're first there, as we know charting a jump point to a new system will allow that. You'll probably not be able to actually build there, but it's likely that the planet will become colonised automatically. The crew will depend on the ship, the Constellation in the video is a 4 man ship, so you can have 3 NPCs with you or 3 other players. Players obviously being a bit better than NPCs. You can go all the way up to 10+ player ships as far as we know right now.

Regarding explorer ships. Any ship can explore with correct equipment so you don't need extra people. And yes you can use npcs in ships like constellation although I guess players would be better if you can convince em

Well sure this looks awesome, but turbine engines would be a risky choice for a ship, that big. Turbines require air to work properly, they work on the push force of the blades. So if the Doctor didn't check for the atmosphere, they would not be able to land that thing?

continuing what Maximus said, genreally, the larger a solid mass planet is, the more likely it has an atmosphere. Planetoids on the lower end of the scale that lack atmospheres would have significantly lower gravitational pull, allowing for heavier loads to be sustained by just the thrusters.

Luke Bellamy systems in SC are scaled-down tremendously (only a few AU). So, you have 50, rel. small systems each containing a few planets max. Play ED and you gonna know how big a system really is - and you gonna have 400,000,000,000 of them.

How can you know? It's not like sc is released yet. You don't know it's scaled down. In fact from the interviews it sounds like they are going to be massive with hidden exploration points, planet landings etc. ED is just repetition currently, although that may change as it leaves beta.
