I was the same way in the 70’s, after seeing Ace Frehley play a Les Paul standard cherry sunburst. I had tons of Ace posters on my walls and promised myself that I’d eventually get one. A friend had an endorsement deal with Gibson and (unbeknownst to me) asked for another Les Paul. I had an SG he really liked and asked to borrow it for a show. A few days later I went to pick up my SG, but he handed me a brand new 1989 Les Paul standard cherry sunburst… then asked if I wanted to trade guitars. I don’t think I’ve ever said “YES” so fast in my life. It’s still my favorite. Enjoy your new Les Paul, it’s really sweet looking.

Congratulations man! She is a serious beauty. Absolutely my favorite Les Paul too. On the unboxing, I've owned a ton of guitars. Only twice have I had that kind of emotional moment. I remember it when I unpacked my new 2019 Standard. Flipping the lid open, and getting hit with that intoxicating scent of a new premium case combined with the great scent of the new nitro. The luster, the whole experience - just plain beautiful. Enjoy! Oh, and don't forget to sniff it! Take it all in bro!

Congratulations! I’ve always loved the LP custom! I don’t have much experience with Gibson guitars. I’ve probably played less than 5 real Gibsons, but I bought a LP studio 20 years ago that gradually became my favorite guitar; changed my mind on what my dream guitar would be. My Gibson guitar is fantastic; extremely stable neck and never a scratchy pot. I’ve had to replace the bridge, and the nut needs to be replaced, but I’ve had to do a lot more maintenance on other guitars

Robert, congrats on your LPC. Ive had a few customs but never a brand new one till about just over a ago. Found a pelham blue custom with custombuckers and VoS finish. I had to buy it and did directly from Gibson. It arrived with a broken headstock. Instead of returning, I ask for it to be repaired since the finish is not a very common one. After a few months, it arrived fixed and with a stinger!

Congrats, Robert on your finally getting this. You could see you were very touched when you finally held it in your hands. I had dreamed of one too since I first saw them in about 1968-1970 in the little brochures Gibson gave out. There was really not as many other models and finishes like there are today. For me, what made me want one was a pic of Mick Box on the inside photo of the first Uriah Heep album, (the self titled U.S. version one with the monster/demon on the front) then a player in my smaller town older by a couple years got one and an a Marshall stack in custom color orange. In the early to mid 1980’s I found one at Guitar Trader Red Bank, New Jersey that the shop mgr/owner said was owned by one of the New York Dolls. It was $650 back then. I’m sure it’s much heavier than newer ones made today.

@Robert Jackson I also got a double dose of what you are getting here…a few months ago I purchased my other bucket list amp that’s been on the list since high school….I have YEARNED AND YEARNED for that magic Hetfield iconic MOP/AJFA tone since 9th grade… never really been able to get anywhere near it no matter what I tried… I could get “in the neighborhood” but that would never satisfy that metallica itch…I got a Mesa Boogie Mark V 35 head , brand damn new and I think that makes it one of 3 amplifiers I have actually everbought brand new since I started playing in high school. Run with a parametric eq in the loop and Dirty Tree and Sd-1 out front IT NAILS IT!!! Not quite there yet they do take patience tweaking but probably 96% of the way there. Thought my chest was gonna burst that day I was so stoked. Thanks again for keeping it honest, real, and not offering your personal integrity for sale at any price and unafraid to voice your opinion despite the cork sniffers

Congrats, man! A lot of my favorite music was recorded on Customs.i bought a 1996 Studio in 97, back when they had the same “technical” specs as a Custom, complete with an ebony fingerboard. I replaced the bridge pickup just recently, and painted the top, but otherwise it’s the same as the day I bought it. One of, if not my absolute, favorite guitars. As my Pops would have said, “Good on ya, mate.”

Congratulations Robert! Back in 92 they were about $2500. Now they are about $5500 or more. I have always wanted a custom but could not reason with the price. So I bought the copies. I own four LP custom copies and I would not change a thing. I have a 2004 Epiphone, 1977 Aria Pro II, 1975 Aria and a 1972 Ibanez. After modifications and finish repairs, they are awesome. I'm a player and I play my guitars hard! Right now I would be afraid to take a guitar that costs over 2K to a gig and risk it getting stolen or damaged. That happened to my USA custom shop Rhoads lighting in the sky guitar. I like to show off my guitars so that would not be an option for me anymore.

Congrats! I got mine in 1995 from 8th Street Music in Chinatown Philly. It was $1700 new. I recently was looking to get an Alpine White to go with the black. At almost $6k I got the new Custom Shop inspired for $1300 instead. Enjoy man! 😎🤘😊

the gibson LP custom is a great metal guitar because of the Ebony fretboard, the bigger bound headstock and metal tuners give it more mass and less prone to feedback . it gives it also a more flat response to the strings.. i had one.. loved it but sold it for 5 times what i had paid for it.. and bought a LP goldtop..

Agreed, if you want a LP Custom, you GET a Gibson LP Custom. That's the most beautiful guitar made in my opinion. I'm about to sell a vintage Fender and Marshall amp and my very expensive drum kit to get the exact same guitar you just received. Also gonna get the Friedman BE100 dlx with 4x12 cab. Good for you Robert nothing like new guitar day! I'm doing the same thing with my new Ibanez Iceman in antique violin finish. I own 4 Epiphone Les Paul's including a 59 and they dont play anywhere close to a "real LP". I consider Gibson like Snap On or other high end tools, lesser quality is fine for the level I play on. I have played 3 real Lps and I remember where I was when I played them vividly. If my viewership helped with this then awesome, least we can do for all the fine programming you provide for free!

I took my first guitar lessons on a '76 Les Paul Custom with a headstock repair the shop had hanging on the wall. I've been hooked ever since and have a couple of Studios but haven't been able to pull the trigger on a Custom...maybe a retirement gift LOL?
