I used to work for Benefit, you are supposed to put your brush into the wax and then the powder :). whilst yes they can be used individually that wasn't their intended use. This might help create that darker colour you are looking for. Hope this helps!

I use glitter glue only for flakes and it looks AMAZING! It's so foiled and blinding, stays on all day and night without breaking up at all, and everyone is commenting on how amazing it looks. I have given up on mixing liquids etc.

The Danessa Myrecks chrome flakes: I had a similar learning curve with a multichrome cream shadow from an indie brand that closed. If I don't use the right base, it's a flakey, patchy mess. But with the right base, it's ethereal gorgeous color (a blue with magenta and violet shifts)

I use the smallest amount of the DM flakes with a silicone applicator as a lil ~sparkle~ topper. They’re too tricky for $25 though 😩

Lots of indie brands do similar products, usually called chameleon flakes, and they're much more affordable.

You wonder if companies like Benefit consult or employ MUA’s for the design aspect of their products. What Robert said about the layout was spot on. Also the range of shades was so broad and would not be good for one person. Like make a palette for blonde, brown, red, black haired people!

Omg! That “I got bangs” shade in the Bottle Blonde palate was incredible!!!! It is like neon, and set off the whole eye look. Then you added the glitter/flakes and I died 💀🪦 I love rainy days too!!! I’m American, but I lived in North Yorkshire UK for 4 years and I miss the weather every day. Literally the BEST rainy book and tea days, snow days, chilly sunny spring days, warm summer days. That inglot bronzer was formulated in the 90s and was revolutionary, maybe thats why they kept it. I know my mom used it as bronzer vs contour and also eyeshadow. I dont think its a contour shade unless you have a very warm undertone

I LOVE Trixie Mattel so I'm glad the palette turned out alright this time around. I completely believe you about the shimmers though, I don't have Bottle Blonde (because I'm vegan and it had carmine) but I got the Plant Gay palette and the bio-glitters and shimmers are hard pressed and frankly Not It. Their high coverage gloss formula is AMAZING though (Floral Fixation from that collection is an all star!) and I think their hero blush palettes are amazing too. It's a newer brand that's still growing and refining. One thing you can say for Trixie is she's ALWAYS working and striving for improvement.

I think you should try some of the duochromes from JD Glow. They are not the flakes, but just the pigments & they are hands down the best duochromes I’ve ever used. Absolutely stunning. I’ve always thought the flakes looked too…..flakey. lol. Beautiful look regardless! 🖤

Omg I'm late but I'm so glad you bought up that finish with the NIMYA spray!!! I thought I was the only one!! Whenever I wear it, it looks like I have a film on my face!! Sometimes if I overload it too it does feel quite tight and heavy after it's dried down

I’m so glad you said something about the nimya setting spray. I had the exact same vinyl skin look and thought I was losing my marbles! I only used a little bit and I looked like I had Barbie skin (not in a good way) by the end of the day! I’m going to try to spray it and then a rose water to see if it helps manage the vinyl look.

The brow zings palette is great if you have basically no brow hairs and use it as a base. Most brow products slide off of bare skin or get patchy when there no hair there. The darker waxes make a great primer for other products to go on top of and the clear wax is good for making the few hairs you have thicker so going back in with pencils and tinted gels has a much nicer effect. I use it before my other products and it’s been a game changer. Now I can make mine look full and natural instead of having to just block them in 😄

For some reason the bronzer looks orange and grey at the same time, like a weird undertone And the shops that carry the Fenty highlighters in my country advertise them as body highlighters, even the packaging mentionsthat, i just googled and realized that international versions don't say anything about being a body shimmer 😂

I love danessa myricks infinite chrome flakes. I find it slightly uncomfortable, but the look of it is incredible. Let it dry, then reapply. It dries down very well and stays put for hours.

Hey Robert, normally, I would agree that domed powder products are, in fact, baked. The Fenty Diamond Bombs are actually a putty formula as were the Stila Heaven's Hue and Heaven Dew.

You have inspired me to start giving second chances to my makeup. I hate throwing stuff away, so I keep unexpired product stashed in case someone I know would want it. If the issue is that the color is just wrong, I will go out of my way to rehome it, but if it is something else, I will give it another try at some point. I have recently found a few little gems in my stash that actually work just fine. In most cases I didn't use it right, which is unsurprising as I am not even close to a pro.

My brows are very light blonde and I need a really cool toned blonde/taupe brow product (I prefer tinted brow gels) and Benefit doesn’t really cater to my colouring either. All the light colours have a warm tone.

Danessa Myricks' products look so beautiful, but she collaborates with the MLM LimeLife (she has an entire collab line with them), and I can't bring myself to support someone who works with what is basically a pyramid scheme. It's a real shame because she is so talented and does that space-age aesthetic that I love, but I couldn't support her unless she broke ties with that MLM.

she distributes her products thru Alcone, whatever issue you have with limelife you can direct to Alcone. She's a small indie brand who has had to use Alcone to get her products out to the masses. to disparage a black own brand like hers that does it best to reach as many people is really pathetic and now you have other sheep jumping on too. This is why I will never trust so called "allies".
