My eldest son moved in with his friend temporarily to keep me safe and though I have my youngest here with me it upsets me that I can’t give my eldest a hug I have to talk to him through a closed window, I have started to feel like me room is a prison cell, plus my health has taken a down turn due to the stress. Hi Robert! A video idea: telling what type of primers and foundations don’t go together well. Explaining why sometimes foundation doesn’t apply smoothly (patchiness, ”separation”, ”slipping off”). How to hide zits for a smooth finish etc. I have trouble with all of these and could use help.
@mydogeatspuke4 жыл бұрын
Primer and foundation usually don't play well together if one is silicone based and the other isn't. If any of the top ingredients end in -cone then silicone is a main ingredient. The moisturiser you use can also play a part, especially if it hasn't had a chance to sink into the skin or it's too heavy to, like a night cream that's designed to soak in over a number of hours. As for hiding blemishes, you can't cover texture. If your skin is unevenly textured then applying makeup wont hide that, but you can make it less obvious by avoiding things with shimmer. Highlighter is obviously the biggest one, but things like "luminous" products will accentuate texture too. The matter the better, and also pressing the product rather than rubbing it in as that disturbs the skin underneath, as well as not using too much powder as that will cling to dry spots and make it more obvious.
@rhythmandblues_alibi4 жыл бұрын
I would love to know how to find out if a foundation is water based or oil based, or high in silicone and which type suits which skin type best!
@mydogeatspuke4 жыл бұрын
@@rhythmandblues_alibi look at the ingredients.... if aqua is one of the first ingredients then it's water based. If anything ending in cone, it's silicone based. As for which suits which skin type, it's not that simple and usually personal preference. There is no specific "this one will work for you!"

This video was really lovely! I've noticed that in some John Maclean videos, he uses products with negative reviews (the Crayola makeup comes to mind), but hones in on talking about how he's altering his technique to make the product work, and the results are always pretty beautiful. The way you approached the products in this video, troubleshooting with them and tweaking your technique, was reminiscent of some of that. For those of us who use makeup more casually and don't go through a lot of product, or can't always afford the higher quality and easier-to-work-with products, I think it's really helpful to watch pros like yourself talk through the process of "making it work." I know I've certainly benefited! :^)

I feel the same way. I've got an important project on at work, 2 weeks ago I would have slayed it but this week and last week I'm just a giant brain fart.

"Great idea. Great kind of like... Hm... Idea" I don't know why but I laughed so much at that. Feel like me talking to my music students jajajaja Bu the way, thanks for keep doing videos, with all of this going on is so nice and calming to see them. So thanks a lot 😊🧡💛

I love that your giving second chances and basically the professor is becoming the student!! It’s just neat to see how different makeup works with different techniques or tools.... just watching you go through it makes me hopeful!

I'm curious, Robert did you ever try the abh palette "subculture"? That palette was a hot topic of discussion when it first came out. People loved or hated it. Love to know your opinion if you tried it. Love your content! 💜💜🖤🖤

Yes I did! It was my first ABH palette! I hated it! 😝

Lol. I passed on it. But the reviews were entertaining. 🤣🤣

Personally it’s my go to palette. It can be a bit difficult to use and yes you may have to blend more than other eyeshadows but it taught me how to deal with somewhat difficult eyeshadows and make something good. It also just has pretty colors that I enjoy

@@vicca0618 thats actually a great point and I'm glad you mentioned it! The worst eyeshadows I've had, have taught me a lot about eyeshadow aplication, blending and also brushes! 😊
