How to Install the Lian Li Hydroshift R, S and TL

Roby. This is nuts man. Lemme give you some context. I never built a PC. I’ve been interested in it for years. Im 35 years old and it Is still very intimidating. Your livestream vid on youtube gave me the courage to do it. I fell in love with your project zero build with the antec C5 and Ryzen 7 7800x3d you did back in April. I made a few slight variations but for the most part it’s identical. I wanted to be sure I could follow along with your video or else i felt like it’d be impossible given my lack of knowledge and experience. I bought all the parts all at once two weeks ago, just tonight finished the build. I worked at it for a few hours every night after getting home from work. What you did in like not even an hour, 🤣, It took me about 20 hours total build time over the past 2 weeks. I was very methodical building it rewinding your livestream back and forth, zooming in, Seeing where you plug stuff in, listening to your explanations etc. etc…I’ve never done anything remotely close to this before so given the amount of $ this cost, I made sure to take my time and check things over and over. Anyways, it’s 3:14 a.m. in the morning 08/20/2024. I actually Finished the build about 6 hours ago, but figured wait till tomorrow to power it up in case something goes wrong. Unsurprisingly, I Couldn’t sleep because of the excitement. I just now, middle of the night, worked up the courage to flip the switch. Like a Christmas tree everything powered on! It was such a wholesome moment for myself. The feeling of Accomplishment I felt was wonderful. . I live alone, I did this entire build alone. (I guess we could say you helped me along the way 🤣 and my best friend Wags the Labrador Retriever gave me emotional support) now to the juicy stuff but had to give you the backstory to realize how hard this hits…. One of those variations i mentioned was I bought a different AIO than you did in your build. I bought the Hydroshift 360 TL instead. My excitement when my PC powered on sizzled out pretty quick when I noticed my LCD screen of the AIO wasn’t working. So Then I panic.. “Why did you buy this Cody??, Now I have no idea what to do now because it wasn’t in Robys build!!!” Now for the crazy part. I then do the most logical thing, KZbin search “how to install the Hydroshift 360TL” and to my surprise,…. Yeah!!! WHAT in the ACTUAL HECK is going on!!! So you, I can’t believe my eyes…. 17 hours ago Robytech uploaded new video to KZbin. “How to install Lian Li Hydroshift 360” Like what are the odds man? So I find your livestream vid on YT 4 months ago, fall in love with the build. Start of August, I just out of nowhere say “I’m doing it” and bought the parts. Takes 2 weeks to build, and the exact night I power it on for the first time everything works perfect except for 1 thing. And that 1 thing happens to be 1 of only 3 things I did different than yours. Because I have no idea what I’m doing, I now need to find a vid explaining exactly how to install it…. And by some act of God, trapdoor, magic voodoo whatever you want to call it. You posted the exact video I needed on the exact day I needed it, on the exact day I finished a build you gave me the courage to build on a livestream you did 4 months ago… just Wow. 🤣🤣🤣 🤯 Anyways, sorry for the long comment. It’s just a crazy story…. It started out Just really to tell you thanks. But as I was writing I just had to tell you the whole story…This quite literally would not have been possible had I not come across your channel a few months ago. Your videos truly help people, and because it helped me, I get to enjoy something I thought I never would. Thanks Roby! I’ll send you a pic once I get this damn AIO figured out! 🤣

Mine works fine but the LCD screen keeps reverting back to original settings every time I boot it from sleep and sometimes it will just be stuck on the Lian Li logo. I thought it was broken so I asked Lian Li about it and they said they would send me a replacement 2 months ago and have yet to receive any updates. Bought a second out of desperation only to find the exact same problem again. I cannot stress enough that this AIO is broken

Have the same problem, every 2nd or so restart i need to uninstall and reinstall the L-connect software otherwise the screen is either stuck on the logo or reading 0 and the fans are at max. I thinks its the L-Connect software that is the issue.

The manual says the cable can only be plugged into ports2/3 or 4 on the controller. So now I'm super confused with your conflicting statement that it should be plugged into port 1?

I don’t have my GPU yet but I wanted to power up the Aio to make sure I hooked everything up correctly. The fans work but the LCD screen does now power up. I hooked up everything exactly the same as in the video. HELP!

If you’re trying to install the aio with the rad in the back and fans in the front, remove the long metallic bit on the radiator..

Yeah. That's a concern for me too. Also the rgb can't be synced with motherboard's controller. Which is again another bummer

I had to return mine, very strange fault in the AIO when it was outside the case it worked and the pump actually pumped you could feel it working... but when mounted on to the CPU the pump didn't work any more so I am now waiting for a replacement AIO... I think it is a very rare defect I didn't see anyone with the same problem when I searched the web... probably something with the pump in the housing that is getting some kind of bend from the mounting or so...

I just got it replaced from Lian Li. We have them in a number of different builds without issues, including the one in this video :)

I’m having a non read on the cpu temp. All other stats show normally but the cpu temp will show zero on restarting a few times it returns. Runs normally for a bit but re start or wake from sleep it will go back to Zero. Sometimes it works fine. Other times it’s re start 3 or 4 times and it returns.

Same .. I have 2 controller the first one is for sl fans and the second one for aio and tl fan I connect evrything correctly but in the app l connect 3 show me that the tl fans didnt work no RPM and i cabt change the rgb but the fans worked noraml pump also worked but i cant chang anything in the app 😢 My sl fans is perfekt i can change the RPM and RGN normal

Yeah, if u connect the rgb cable of the fans at the controller and u also have the other fans lian li so u can use L-Connect, but I suggest you connect the power cable to the motherboard directly so that the fan speed is controlled by the motherboard software and not by L-Connect

i have 10 fans connected and If you connect the AIO to the number 1 port on the controller none of the fans will spin.

It states in the Lian Li supplied instructions that you can’t use Port 1 with the AIO. It must be connected to 2,3 or 4, apparently it’s to do with port 1 being under powered for the LCD display

Got it in my Lian Li 216 case. Suppose to be compatible. True pain to get it inside. Even took off my rear fan, i had to push hard to replace it back. Couldnt fit in by 3-4mm

Can you speak as to whether this fits in an A3-mATX? I thought I remember reading somewhere that while this is a 360mm AIO, it doesn't fit in some cases claiming to support 360mm

Since no one else responded, no you can't. It's a TL and TL-LCD fan specific controller. You would need the SL controller as they are different pin outs and power requirements.

Seeing that this is supposed to be plugged into CPU_FAN instead of AIO_Pump, I switched it over, and the lights, and the screen on the CPU still don't work, and still aren't recognised by L-Connect.

@DennisDural I didn't, but their tech support is super fast to reply, and it was super easy to show to them and explain the trouble I've had and all of the troubleshooting I've done, and they're sending replacement parts already. Imo, despite getting a broken product (through amazon), this has been a 10/10 experience with their tech support.

Built an AMD Ryzen 9 9550X but turned the system on, the PC boots to the Bios and I can see the CPU temp. All the Lian Li UNI SL fans work but the Hyrdoshift TL does not spin and I it has no video image at all. Regardless of the UNI Fan port, 2, 3 or 4. I assume this means its DOA.

The build last week featured this AiO but the build wouldn’t stay on. Can you update what was the fault? Was it a faulty AIO, or a motherboard issue?

One of the flaws is you can't sync the rgb of the aio to the motherboard's controller. It doesn't support that. Which is a bummer for me since it ruins the aesthetic of the case. For example i have 7 fans in my c5 and 3 on the aio. Where all 10 can't be synced. I didn't realize this while buying it. Thought it's a basic thing and all aio should support this. 😔 Otherwise it's not bad.

@@robeytech Just to make sure I completely understand as a first time builder...the Lian Li website lists the fans on the TL model as LCD fans. It also does specifically say not to use port 1. I do trust you more than the Lian Li manual, ha! Just want to make sure as I'm apprehensive about getting all of the cables in the right spots before I put it all together. Appreciate the video very much, as I do all of your install/review videos. As a 51 year old first time builder, I'm a bit anxious to make sure it's all done correctly. Thanks again for the high-quality extremely helpful videos! Love how detailed you are, not taking for granted the viewer's knowledge base!

I installed this AIO and when I turned it on, fans are running at max speed, approx 2500 RPM even when CPU is cool. The L connect 3 software is not turning down the fan speed as per the temp curve (silent profile). Just the same constant max speed. I have trawled the internet looking for a solution but nothing works. trying to change settings in BIOS, trying to update software, double check cables and ports.. I had a computer tech look at it and could not figure it out. Now waiting for Lian Li to get back to me - reluctant to say faulty unit. Truly disappointing and its made for a really unpleasant couple weeks.. anyone resolved the same issue before?? before i throw it out the window go back to the downgraded fan CPU cooler.

These steps work for all cases and give you all the steps. Just once it’s installed you may need to use the software to rotate the screen.
