I just did almost the exact same with the rope light. I ran a full loop of the 3825 LEDs around the back of the gauge housing (had to cut a little, nothing much) and since the lights in my a/c controls didn't work I modified that housing (cut the 2 bulb holes into a long oval slot) and ran a 12 led section over there. I used the a/c light power plug as the power source for all the LEDs. Works great.

I tried taking the bulbs out of those little locking sockets and replaced them with slightly higher wattage wedge bulbs. I think those are like 4w? and I put in a couple 7w. It works great for my s10, but the whole right side on my sonoma keeps not getting a good connection. might have to solder them in, but its a big pain to get that cluster out because I have a bunch of auxiliary switches attached to the switch panel. certainly not as bright as yours, but I went with what I had!

Great video! I wish I saw this when I took out the whole dash to paint. The most difficult thing was getting the air controls back in. The wires on mine were so short from the factory, I could barely take it out, much less squish back in without pinching any wires. Thanks for the video!

yea that would work just fine, but you have to consider, with mine i had issues due to the age of the cluster. the portion where the light makes contact was getting kind of shitty. ultimately i used the hard wired strips and tied them in to the actual switch. if you look at my original dash video i only use this type of light your looking at but i made them myself is the only difference. personally i like the 2nd time i did them more, it provided more light in the dim areas.

For anyone else curious you can tie into the light harness for the a/c controls. That's what I did for all my gauges and my a/c control panel... Ran LEDs from that plugged in connection. Also check out solder seal butt connectors if you haven't heard of them. They're incredible. No more crimping, soldering, and/or heat shrinking... They solder, shrink, and adhere in one step using a lighter, torch, or heat gun. Faster, easier, water tight connections and they're very affordable

I cant positively answer that question. I'm really not sure. Perhaps you should contact a dealer or maybe a part supplier might know.
