A little over 14 hours car to car. I ended up scrambling to the side of the first chimney crux, likely low 5th class. There's a water source up past the tarns about 1500m up that has runoff from the glacier. Bring a headlamp.

I was thinking of doing it in 2 days and sleeping at the tarns before the summit push. Would you say it’s more worth it to do it in one go or is sleeping up there a good option?

@@ericbates3009 The forest is pretty steep so that part would be hard with a heavy pack, but I'm sure the tarns would be a great place to camp!

This is really well done, thanks for sharing! I'm hoping to do this soon as well and the footage of the scramble and especially the downclimb are really helpful. How was the route finding on the lower sections? Looks pretty bushwacky, wondering if you had to do any backtracking?

Definitely bushwhacky near the top of the forest! I had a gps track with me from AllTrails throughout the hike. Without it I probably would have gotten a little lost in some sections. Make sure you start early and bring a headlamp!

Great video. You went up about a week before we did. But we had to turn back at the 1500 meter mark due to bad weather. Going to do it again this year looking at late July need the day light.

Thanks! Might be quite snowy still at the top (around 4:00 in the video) in late July. Once you're at the bottom of the forest coming back in the dark isn't difficult to navigate, especially with gps tracks.

Edit: I suggest you try dennet/Munro lake, or if you like peaks conway peak is definitely a less taken option. Remember you dont always only have to upload the big peaks :)

@@wilkin7299 In this hike I had attempted the route a year before with a couple friends, coming just short of the summit. Also, I carry an InReach with me to track my progress. For this hike navigating in the dark wasn't too bad, as I knew once I made it down to the lake I could follow the service road back up to the car in the dark easily. It helps to have some sort of GPS track to follow, I was using Alltrails on my phone.

Me and my friends are considering doing Robie Reid this summer. Any particular tips you'd give? I've been studying your video many times xD. Is 5:20 and 5:40 the same, continuous scramble section? I heard there're two scramble sections that are considered class 4 scramble. Btw, just heard there's a brother who had an accident at Mount Harvey lately. Please stay safe while solo hiking.

I’d recommend starting early (before sunrise) and plan on being down after sunset unless you’re really pushing it. Even on a clear day, the summit push can be cloudy (happened to me both times) but the second time I just went through the clouds. I just randomly scrambled up at the first “crux” of the route (the chimney section), probably 500 feet left of where I was supposed to be (before the notch @4:20). I didn’t film this section. I was just loosely following gps tracks and scrambling up (5th class?) with no visibility until I got back on track. The first time I went up, me and my friends were nearly hit by microwave sized boulders (within 5ft of us) tumbling at us. We turned around after that since there was no visibility up ahead. The section at 5:40 is right after the section at 5:20! It’s a bit loose but all pretty easy (but exposed) scrambling. Have fun! This is a relatively big hike fitness wise but super fun up top. Everyone I saw that day brought ropes and helmets.

It’s definitely a long day. I believe sometime around 2008 Wulf Pirang built the trail that you see at the start from the Florence Lake FSR. Judge Howay still requires a boat across Stave Lake!
