Such a wonderful video. No blah blah, just hiking. Wonderful music. You had to have climbed it at least twice setting and recovering your camera. Great drone shots as well. Amazing.

Thank you! I much prefer when people point the camera away from themselves too. For this video I had actually hiked it twice. The second time I had my friend film me with the drone on the pink slab. Just had to make sure I wore the same clothes!

@Burkletonn17 күн бұрын
@@BCHiking Was crystal clear for me and we still chose a random route getting up the rock wall towards the golden door. Ended up discovering the gulley with the ropes after we were already on top. There had actually been some light snowfall Wednesday night but was mostly gone with the heat of the following days, other than that the only snow was the glacier to the east on the final approach!

what are you using to get your camera to follow you
@BCHiking27 күн бұрын
In this video, the iFootage Shark Slider Nano! It's a 2 axis motion controlled slider, but occasionally I'll use my DJI Ronin gimbal to follow me in activetrack. The slider has no follow function, but I manually set the timings of the movement, so I'll count in my head the seconds and speed up/slow down depending on how close I am to the end of the slide.

Thanks! I used a Blackmagic Pocket 4K with the Lumix 8-18 and 12-35. I have the Peak Design travel tripod with the IFootage Shark Slider Nano 2 axis motion controlled slider with a fairly lightweight Smallrig ball head mount. Then for ND’s I have the NISI IRND’s 3 and 6 stop filters (most Blackmagic’s suffers from IR pollution pretty badly). For audio it’s just a Rode videomic NTG on the top.

Boy oh boy where do I even begin. Brandon C... honey, my pookie bear. I have loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you. The way you summit the most difficult hikes in SWBC. Your unnerving climbing skills, and your flawless videography. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you stop hiking. I would sacrifice my own life it were the only thing that could put a smile on your beautiful face. You have given me so much joy over the years. I remember when you first summited Robie Reid, watching that video changed my life forever. Then you completed the Howe Sound Crest Trail in one day, and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "Hey there, thanks for watching the video. I thought I'd take some time at the end here, so you can get some information if you're looking for that". Not only have you changed the hiking scene of SWBC and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're posting less, but still the goat, my goat. @@BCHiking oh geez, really??
@BCHiking2 ай бұрын
A big step up from black tusk imo! Between the possible glacier travel, distance and remoteness and route finding I’d say this is on a similar level to Robie Reid in difficulty. Less scrambling but more elevation gain!
@brookmc50762 ай бұрын
@@BCHiking ok but specifically the scrambling from west summit to the main one how difficult is that compared to say the black tusk chimney?
@BCHiking2 ай бұрын
@@brookmc5076 Hmm. Hard to compare. The scrambling in the Black Tusk chimney is easy, but loose. The scrambling to the main summit of Castle Towers was more solid, but I'd say it was harder. Maybe a bit harder than the West Lion scramble, mostly from the routefinding.
