I never really knew or thought about it at the time, but most interviewers never even bothered preparing questions ahead of talking to Robin Williams. They knew he'd run the show on his own.

That was one of the best things about Robin, he could always make you laugh. No matter how bad of a day I was having, I knew that if I watched one of his interviews, I would be laughing so hard my sides would hurt.

I met him in Afghanistan in December 2010. He came the week before Christmas. After the show he did photo ops with everyone in the audience. When I went to shake his hand he just bear hugged me and said “God bless you thank you” I won’t lie. I gotta little choked up. He was such a great person.

He gave us enough. The world will miss him but he gave us enough of himself already. The tragedy is the loss for his children and spouse. Even for friend's I would say he gave enough and he didn't want to go on for whatever reason. I think 100 years from now people will still know who he is because of the body of work he left behind. He is great human being.

John Cunningham He left because he knew he had - not Parkinson's, but a fatal, degenerative brain disease, Lewy Body Dementia, that changes your personality as it progresses, in horrible ways. And it had started to change him. He didn't want to change. This is according to his wife. I would do the same. My husband agrees 100%. It's unfair and so sad. Terrible tragedy, terrible loss. It absolutely gutted me. His humor got me through some very rough times. Thank you, dear soul, from the bottom of my heart.

Just an fyi, Robin wasn't depressed, he'd been struggling with a rare and debilitating form of dementia that was progressing rapidly. He was literally losing his mind, and it was literally killing him. That's why he chose to leave us when he did, while he still had a part of himself left. He had a chronic neurodegenerative disease. He went with dignity instead of waiting for the disease to take its course. If he didn't he would have ended in diapers, not remembering his family. Unable to feel happy or to take care for himself. This is why euthanasia should be legalised in the united states. With euthanasia laws in other countries you can wait until the disease gets pretty bad. In this case he had to end it while he was still able to.
@winterhorse10128 жыл бұрын

I think part of Robin's problem was that he always felt he had to be "on". He never seemed to take it easy on himself, or maybe couldn't take it easy at all. God only knows what kind of deep-seeded demons of inadequacy (if any) he may have dealt with, or even if from childhood. Now most of us learn to how push them away or even to outgrow them, but some can only pile layer after layer over them, to try and hide from them, and forget. And for them that may only be start. You can of course just say that it was his addiction and mentally it had finally run its course, exhausting him. That's not so hard to understand, is it? But I cannot believe that a man with his intellect, his wit, his zeal and his soul could be conquered by only one demon. To me there would have had to have been many, many more than one. Of course I loved him . . . who didn't? Yet I didn't bother with "Crazy Ones" and I didn't want too, feeling it would just be Robin Regurgitated. After all, growing up with him from Days of Mork gave me the feeling that I have seen it all before. But it was when he would step boldly into the unknown that he was at his best, and how many times had he done that? For when did he brought with him all the fury of Nemo stalking his White Whale, as if charged by God to see it all the way to the end, no matter which mask he was wearing: comedy, tragedy or his own unique and ironic blend of both. So now Robin becomes a Greek Tragedy. I hope that at least in death he finds the peace he could not here, with all of us, just by being himself. And if there is any justice, Robin is rolling them in the aisle's of St. Peter's Gate right now.

@donvandamnjohnsonlongfella12397 жыл бұрын
He had a lot more problems than depression. He had a degenerative mental illness that you can't heal. The world suffers his loss but to save him would have meant to force him to suffer for years well losing his mind. That's terribly cruel.
