Robin has always had phenomenal players in his band, but there's something special about this drummer; this might be my favorite lineup. I love Davey's vocals too.

Trower and band sound simply amazing here! I think it's safe to say we all miss James Dewar.

When people are talking about great guitar players you rarely if ever hear Trower's name come up. That's an injustice. And I don't care about the Hendrix light comments. The guy is one of my favourites. GREAT! stuff.

+Frankincensed I'll probably go to guitar player hell for saying, but way better than Hendrix. Especially when comparing live performances.
@Frankincensedjb1238 жыл бұрын
Morgan Chatsworth III I listen to Trower with more interest and delight than Hendrix, so I'd probably have to agree. Certain artists get more praise than they should because of an early demise or other reasons. Not that Hendrix wasn't great, an innovator, I just don't think of him as a god. I'll leave that category for my guy Page. Really, if you can find anyone who was composing on the acoustic and electric the way Page did, I'll listen. But as far as I'm concerned, no one can touch him. There may be more technically proficient and cleaner players (drugs certainly didn't help my boy), but as far as song writing and innovation, no one can touch Page.

+frankencensed Funny , what you just said about Page is what Page says about Jeff Beck. BUT you're spot on about the acoustic & electric playing of Page. None of the other 'guitar god's can touch Page's acoustic virtuosity.

When I was maybe ten years oldish (in 1975-76) I heard this guitar tone that inspired me to try picking up guitar and I've had the disease ever since! I heard bridge of sighs and it sounded like jimi Hendrix "On Steroids!" Back then robin always caught flack for what people thought was him copying jimi... Sure jimi inspired him but I'm sorry folks, robin had a bigger, richer, wider and better command of the distorted amp/univibe tone than jimi ever did. Jimi's creative mind and songwriting skills were great and changed the gears of guitar playing but what smacked me in the face was robins tone. My guitar god... Mr. "ROBIN TROWER!!!"

@@eugenewardjr.3506 I think your right mate. I saw Page in 72' with Zep of course and just magic from start to finish.when he was on he was as good as anyone.His acoustic playing along side JPJ. was brilliant.Second to no one really.

A note - Hendrix was around for 3 years 50 years ago. Just enjoy the players for what they do - it is not a contest. BTW, Hendrix is my all time favourite.
