Great work 👏 👍 I would like ask is it possible to remove load bearing wall made of wimpy No fine pour concrete by install RSJ beam and columns?

thank you. Could you guide us on how to find the optimization section of the beam? it means finding the thickness of web and flange of beam

Really helpfull video!!! 👏 Just one question, from where did it came the distributed load applied in minute 2:04? Many thanks!!
@JanPLopez9935 ай бұрын
Yes it was 25.5kN/m, I see you picked that up after, that would have changed your beam size then!? Your notations help!!

Great video Robin! How/where do I find the data to determine wether or not I require a padstone? Do you know what the maximum load on each bearing is before requiring a padstone? Thank you
@RobindeJongh3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elliott. It's in BS5628 part 1 in the section for "concentrated loads". It requires a check on the stress under the bearing and also of the wall below.

Does a pinned and a roller support change the calculations if they were both pinned or both a roller?
@RobindeJongh4 жыл бұрын
For this particular software it probably doesn't make a difference - you might get an error message.

How did you get 100 KN/m? With your Calculation it Should've been 31.178 KN of Bending Moment

Hi Robin, imposed load for a garage roof with no middle wall (beam at one end) is the length of imposed load 50% or 100% the linear length of the roof?
@RobindeJongh3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad. It may help you to draw a plan diagram showing supports and roof span direction. You will then see what is supporting it, and you will be able to divide up the weight (load) of it appropriately between the supports.

@@RobindeJongh Thanks Robin, I am basically converting my 2 door double garage, to a single large door by removing the central column.

@@RobindeJongh Thank you Robin, you have brought a lot clarity to what appears to be very complicated, but once explained properly, it made a lot of sense.

Hi, were the figures you put in on the magnitude start and finish correct, or was the 25.5 load suppose to go into one of the magnitude boxes? Thanks
@RobindeJongh4 жыл бұрын
If you are following the series, the 25.5 load goes instead of the 3. I recorded these out of sequence.
@Messimagician834 жыл бұрын
@@RobindeJongh thanks for replying. So is that 25.5 for both the start and finish boxes or just the finish box? I just watched the 4 videos.
@RobindeJongh4 жыл бұрын
@@Messimagician83 Correct. If you want a uniformly distributed load over the whole length of the beam, it will start and finish the same. You can see if it's working correctly by looking at the load diagram.

@@RobindeJongh Love these videos but I had exactly the same question...maybe worth re-recording so the series has a consistent case study. However, I am grateful that you have taken the time to record, share and answer questions.
