For an unprecedented 6th time, Tony Geary takes home the Best Lead Actor award! This is from the 2008 Daytime Emmys for his work during Luke's health scare.

Don't assume that all Genie fans believe that Anthony Geary is slighting her. I am a fan of both and believe that he is as gracious towards her as she is towards him. Love them both. Anthony Geary is one of the best actors ever of any genre. At the very top. Amazing.

GH Fever He was voted the best soap actor ever in 2010. Won 8 Lead Actor Emmys and GH won Best Drama 11 out of 13 overall in the 32 years he was on GH

What is funny is Canary played two characters, Adam and Stuart, and he gave an interview since they just killed off Stuart so he is down to just Adam. He said it will be harder for him to now win an Emmy without Stuart! LOL...but he should not sell himself short. He still does a great job in both roles, even if he now only plays one of them. All of his wins involved tapes where there were both Adam and Stuart. The tape he submitted, for his 2001 win, was excellent. I still remember it.

(Continuing)...and people tuned in to see if she would win. They tuned in, each year, since it took them a long time to award her the Emmy...so that is why they denied it to her so they could continue to get high ratings. But they decided to finally give her a well deserved Emmy and it was. The tape she submitted, for 1999, were phenomenal. True Erica Kane if you ask me.

I am pulling for Thorsten Kaye to win since he seems to have some strong tapes (and I know since I see him as Zach on AMC every week day)...Peter Reckell might pull it off since he had an emotional story, for 2008, and that could factor in to a win. I think Geary has won enough times...I wonder if even HE wants to win anymore.

Darn it, my first name is Jason! You hurt me-LOL kidding :) I just watch AMC now but, from 1993 to 1997, I watched both AMC and GH. I love that Erica is always exciting and never boring. It is interesting that she has four grandchildren but has never referred to herself as "grandma"-not sure if that will ever happen. LOL! From 1991-1992, I watched just AMC (then I told you about 93-97 above). From 1998 to present, just AMC

What is it with you Genie Francis lovers always tripping like Anthony Geary is slighting her or something? That has never EVER been the case. Watch his first Emmy win where he puts Genie over big time. Anthony Geary has always gone out of his way to give Genie tremendous props. Anthony Geary is the best actor ever in soaps period.

Okay, if Anthony loses this year but is up for it next year, I will root for him next year-unless an AMC actor is nominated. Then I would have to hope for a tie. LOL! I would not mind if Cosgrove won since he was on AMC, for a couple of years, in the 1990s and did a great job.

Hey, I don't want to change your mind. You are very mature and can think for yourself and I like that about you :)...and, if I changed everyone's minds and got them to think like me at all times, I would be pretty bored! LOL :) I think we can both agree that Maurice Benard, while playing a crap character in Sonny, is a great guy cause he raises awareness on Bipolar Disorder and is a survivor. That is a lot to admire...but I also admire Tony for coming in to GH, in the late 70s, and saving it.

Although I think Tony Geary is a great actor, He was on very little in 2008. The only scenes worthy were with Luke and Laura in the cabin. Other than that he was just a drunk behind a bar.

LOL that's okay...you can hate Jason Morgan (and I don't care for the character either, since he let himself be seduced by McWhore). I actually spell my name "Jason" but just put the "y" in there for some reason :) Yes, Anthony and Susan won the lead acting categories in 1999 and, since I am a huge Lucci fan, I jumped up and down when her name was read. She should have gotten it well before 1999 but I think the Academy realized the high ratings, for the Emmys, were over if she would win.

I think the only person who was good on Gh was Tony. I think Greg Vaughn was doing good this year but the cast as a whole was not great. I think Gh was terrible for drama this year except Luke's health problem.

Susan has been nominated twice since winning the Emmy (2001 and 2002). Honestly, I believe, when she gets pre nominated, she submits bad tapes so she does not get nominated. She probably is just tired of being nominated too many times. Personally, I don't know what Geary can submit for this year's nomination. I have read up on his stories, from 2008, and they don't seem Emmy worthy. But I am sick of Geary and LeBlanc continuously winning. Since 2004, it has just been them as the winners.

That's fine, we can agree to disagree. My problem with Geary is he does not respect the Executive Producer (Riche) who understood his character and, when he was on the show and not on vacation, she made him work and gave him great stories. For him to just bash her talents is really minimizing how awesome GH was under her reign. She got GH much more than Phelps does and I firmly believe she even understood it better than Monty. And it is hard for me to respect him when he phones it in

If he wins, I can't say he deserves it. He just phoned in a bitter man in my opionion and I once loved him. His best work is with Genie Francis and she is gone. Without Genie, he is just an aging actor on canvas.

and David should be the one who should have won the Emmy...the only reason Geary won was that Brian Frons rigs most the wins in GH's favor. Even Geary said himself he was shocked he won. That must say something.

Agree. Over the past several years, Geary has phoned in playing Luke and does not try anymore. And he does not deserve to win this year, considering how he bashed Wendy Riche (GH's Executive Producer from 1992-January 2001)

Unless his bashing of the Wendy Riche era was something he was told to do by Guza or JFP, I think Geary likely did it because he may’ve had more influence in storylines during the Guza/Phelps years. I’ve seen speculations about this during storylines like Stefan Cassadine’s 2003 return and Holly’s 2006 return (which were definitely Guzafied no doubt). Sadly, I think that might still going on today with Maurice Benard and maybe even Laura Wright. I heard that Laura Wright was the reason why Wes Ramsey (Peter) was on the show for so long, and Benard was likely responsible for Sonny being unstoppable for so many years, and also the pairing of Sonny and Nina as of recently. Unfortunately, I can’t prove any of this, but do you think it could be true?

2008 was him in the hospital, 2006 was Lucky his son, I am not sure what he won for in 2004but odds are it was Luke or a family member of his in the hospital, 2000 I believe was Luke or a Spencer in the hospital. I disagree that Tony Geary is the best actor in daytime. To me, that is David Canary of All My Children. He is able to play two very different characters in personality and make it hard for viewers to believe it is one actor playing them. He should have won this year, not Tony.

First of all, you need to get your facts straight. Geary does not have the most wins of anyone in daytime. He is tied with Erika Slezak and Justin Deas for that honor. He is not number one but is tied for number one. It is common knowledge that Frons favors GH and will do anything to make sure they win. This is no different here. I will say the only time of his last wins (2004, 2006, 2008) where Geary earned it was in 2006. Everyone knows Frons rigs awards to make sure GH wins. That is a fact.
