This time it`s good news about the robins. The young have fledged which means I can get on with making my new compost bins. There is also an interesting encounter with a flock of sparrows and a swarm of ants in the greenhouse #gardenvlog #compost #wildlifegarden

Thanks Isabel for another great video, it is such good news on the robins and they now have plenty of vegetation to hide in. Your garden is such a haven for wildlife and looks stunning too. With the sparrows and the ants situation it proves what a lot of us has known for along time nature knows best and will resolve the problem!! Itself. thanks again look forward to next video. Take care and stay save. Bryan fae Orkney.

Hello Bryan. You`re very welcome. I would rather the ants weren`t living in the greenhouse, to be honest but thank goodness I have so many sparrows. Thanks for watching.

I'm so glad the baby robin's made it this time. Your compost bin's look very substantial, it's good to have the three separate area's.

Thanks. Yes the compost bins should last a while and I`m hoping the three should be easier to use.

Beautiful natural looking garden, its a pollinators dream. Great to see the baby robins leave the nesting box and your new compost bins are the bees knees.

Hi, Isabel! Your robins are really incredible. To breed again after three failures is really brave. You'd think they'd give up. What a joy that it worked out in the end and the chicks have fledged. I also love your sparrows. Unfortunately, there are very few of them in my garden. Your compost bins look very professional. I hope you continue to enjoy your summer garden. Best wishes, Gabi🤗💙

Thanks Gabi. It just shows how strong is the need to reproduce. Could be a different pair, of course. I have lots of sparrows, they live in the eves of the building behind my garden, but they are very vulnerable. Hope your garden and wildlife are doing well.

Pleased the Robin saga ended well, It has been so wet and lower than average temps late everything is behind in my garden. It surely has a adverse effect on the bird population and the feeding of young. Normally my garden is humming with hover flies, bees and beetles scurrying about, instead we are inundated with big fat slugs of every colour, they are not cute sliming about the place. We have frogs, toads and foxes, but, I don't think they like the look of them either. 😆Thanks for sharing. 🐞🌻🌱

Your garden sounds amazing. Yes, my slugs are loving this wet weather and all the lush growth it produces. The birds eat some of them, but not enough! The weather is forecast to improve so fingers crossed the insects recover. Thanks for watching.

Wow Isabel the garden is looking like an entirely different world from May ❤. It is spectacular and the robins will look after you as you look after them 🥰. Have a most wonderful week, Ali 🥵🌞🇨🇦

Hi Ali, Thanks so much. I`m glad you think so. Everything has grown so well this year - if it wasn`t eaten by the slugs!! Happy gardening.

This is "leaf beetle" season...there are so many, native and non-native. Most start eating after dark and can be seen lingering very early in the morning, if you are determined to identify them. Leaf Cutter bees take from the edges of leaves, and the leaves remain healthy regardless of how much goes missing since bees carefully snip between the leaf cells. Well done, robins! Success is so fun. 😎

It was so cool to watch the sparrows “cleaning” your greenhouse. I had never seen them do that. I am really glad the robins made it this time. And your garden is just glorious with all these blooms!

Great news about the robins and I had my garden sparrows enjoying their ant feast where they swarmed on my patio. Now I have a pair of seagulls who come to drink from my various bird baths and who have begun using their beaks to knock, knock, knock on my patio door begging for scraps. My dog goes mad barking and running at the door to chase them off but they just wait till he goes quiet and start knocking again. They're so clever and keep it up till I throw scraps out for them.😂

Lots of insects eat the leaves of brambles including some moth caterpillars. There's also a bramble sawfly. The little seed looks like some kind of pupa but what kind is difficult to tell. Might be worth popping it in something to observe what comes out. Great compost bins 🤞🏻 for slow worms.

I love watching your videos. You inspire me to continue rewinding my own garden. The wild flowers in your area are so beautiful and birds there are much more plentiful then in my area. I am in an area where the development has taken almost all the empty land and the use of pesticides and herbicides is prevalent. But if I can keep my garden space a little sanctuary for insects maybe it will influence others, just as you influence others to rewild. Thank you so very much.

It`s no wonder nature is struggling. The problem here is sheep - they eat everything. That`s why our gardens are so important for wildlife. I`m so glad you are wilding yours , and I hope you can influence others and keep spreading the word. I`m so glad you like the videos. Thanks for watching

It could be vine weevil on the bramble, they come out at night to eat and during the day hide under the soil. The larvae of vine weevil can attack roots that will kill a plant, maybe that’s what happened to your Clematis as they can be very destructive. I love your garden though, you inspire me to leave my garden for nature to thrive 🐝🐞🐛🦋🐌🪲🕸

O OK. I have seen them around. I`ve only ever known them to eat strawberries and heucheras/heucherellas. And everything in pots, of course. I wish they would eat bramble roots too!!. I`m so glad you are becoming a wild gardener too.

Some insects lay their eggs on the end of a stalk to protect them from ants and other crawling predators. Lacewings do this.

I'm exactly the same with the anxiety when the babies arrive! We have several pairs of collared doves who try constantly to raise a family but in most cases the sparrowhawk takes them 😒.
