I do a 24 hour board game fundraiser thing every year and when I started it a few years back, it started at 1pm-1pm the next day, I got so tired around 5am. They switched it last year to 10am-10am and oddly enough, I still only got tired at 5am. It was so much easier to slog through 5am-10am instead of 5am till 1pm. Maybe if you do it again, start earlier. (note: I am a night owl and I love my sleep, so waking up to start the challenge at 10am was hard for me, but I lasted longer, so I guess it was worth it) What you came up with looks great though. :)

I totally can relate about being so exhausted for working 24h in a row! I'm a med student and we have 24-36 hours shifts and I don't know how I survive them lol. But I would definitely spend 24 hours doing art. I just can't love art enough! Today I spent almost 3/4 of the day trying to make 3 portraits and I was really happy with the result! (And I was wainting for your video, too. I almost send a message to your IG account "ROBIN, YOU PROMISED! VIDEO! TODAY!" xD Glad I didn't do it... Woops.

@AniVan1R7 жыл бұрын
Olive O'Connor yeah, you get really slow at doing things, thinking and everything. But then, you have some rush of energy and complete all your tasks. It isn't easy at first, but you get better at surviving... And in the next 4-6 days, you don't have shifts (thank God!). I've seen people quit for that and for all the horrors you experience as a student.
@AniVan1R7 жыл бұрын
a loser who likes math but cant be succesful at it it's a love-hate relationship for everyone. It's very demanding (time, energy, life). You do have time for friends and family, but you decide if you want to use that time to study (and you should, most of times) or do something else. I study using audiobooks while painting and that helps soooo much to make me feel calmed. You get to experience so many things, that you may feel ages older. I've seen so many deaths and births that I feel like a grandpa (and I'm just 22). I guess that's a constant in every med school. However, my experience might differ a lot from US med schools, since medicine in a third world country is way more intense and you not always have the resources to save everyone. It's frustrating but it develops your creativity to solve problems and save lives. I recommend you a book called "How to succeed at med school", it's pretty accurate in so many ways. I read it when I was finishing my 5th year (Now I'm almost an intern which is 7th year) and it helped me a lot. Research a lot about how medicine is in your country, specially the bad side of it. If you can accept all the cons, then it might be the career for you. Best of lucks!

Oh I've done this but with drawing comics, there's this global event known as "24hour comic day" which is when you spend 24 hours to make a 24 page long comic - fully inked and lettered and done. I don't participate in that event anymore because to no one's surprise - working non stop for 24 hours is REALLY bad for your health. Sure it is a fun "challenge" to see how much you can produce, but I wouldnt encourage it being a part of your general creative routine. It's a miracle I didn't permanently ruin my drawing hand from those challenges, and yes it's def the hardest around 4-5AM. You feel so awful in your whole body. If people are ever going to do a challenge like this one, always make sure you have plenty of hearty food ready. Not noodles or snacks, REAL food - a pizza or other takeaway food works too. And do the challenge with friends, having company helps keep the motivation going. And let your body rest for 10 min between the hours.
@Mibbitmaker5 жыл бұрын
I've done a few of those, too. My last 3 (I gave up: too old to keep doing it, and I don't sleep enough as it is) are my favorites. I went through periods where it was draggy and difficult, then when the energy was back, back-and-forth. I did mine at the local comic shop, noon-to-noon. Besides breaks for dinner or snacks, I took a break each time to go home to watch SNL, take a nap, and return. A couple times, the nap was close to a night's sleep! I couldn't always get a full 24 pages done - because of both time and the natural end of the story. I even did my last one in color, "mid-century" style.

I understand your feels...so hardcore right now. I went from one acrylic painting class in college because it was a requirement to eight years later landing a job as a painting instructor for a wine & paint place. After a year of teaching speed painting I've gotten so much better, but never really notice the change in my art until after leaving that job and taking up painting yet again in my personal time. A sudden realization that I'm able to create things I didn't know I could. Example: I hate clouds. Clouds hate me. I randomly decided I needed clouds in my painting and they were actually nice to me! I'm not sure when it happened, but clouds are no longer a problem. Surprise! And keeping in mind my classes had me at the studio for 4-5 hours at a time. So if I worked more than one class it was an all day thing. -_- Finding time to eat was insane.

Were you alone? That's really disciplined! Even 24 hour gamers do it on livestream with lots of people motivating them. I would require a friend, but then, I get tired of painting after only an hour XD I always wondered why 24 hour stretches always start in the morning instead of ending at night when it is an appropriate time to pass out for many hours. My spouse pointed out that to begin at night means you are actually awake for 34+ hours, which makes sense. But then, you certainly managed it.
