I not scared of making something bad just scared of using up all my oil paints for nothing because there so expensive
@MissLivYoung7 жыл бұрын
But that's the thing, you're not using them on nothing! You're using them to learn and to experiment and to make mistakes that will help you in your next painting. I know how it is not wanting to use something because it cost you a lot of money, but if you don't use them at all, THAT's when they're wasted!

There are so many ways to get around this! Cheap student paints exist for experiments; limit your palette or size to reduce waste; you can experiment in other media, too.

This has helped me so much and opened my mind. I'm currently really depressed because I didn't get accepted into an art school that I've dreamed of for some time now and I feel like such a failure, I had so many people support me and it was really embarrassing having to let them down, I feel so fake and I'm questioning my self if I really enjoy art or if I just do it to satisfy my family.. this really opened up my eyes however. I've been so grumpy and distant and i really should be happy of what i have. I'm so stuck on trying to get in and feeling like a disappointment that i haven't taken a look at my surroundings. I chose this life of having to be declined and such because I am an artist. I cant go back or else I'll feel like I wasted money on supplies and time so there's only one way to go which is forward. Thank you. You really made me feel so much better

I'm glad you found some comfort from this! I understand how much that sucks- feeling that kind of rejection and having everyone around you aware of something you wish you could stash in a box and never have to publicize. ARMY Forever yea I wish I could be one but first of all my mom doesn't approve and says to do stereotypical business jobs in a offese, but I think it's boring unless it's a gaming company and my mom doesn't like that either so I just ignored her and then at school I was drawing something from a video game and it look pretty good for what the game was, and my teacher just goes in my desk, takes my note book, rips out the drawings and put them in the trash, I will never forget that, especially since I was traumatized. And to prove how bad she was, she assaulted me while eating lunch she took my fork while there was still food on it and stuffed it in my lunch box just because she was FORCING ME against my own will to go to a place to work on one of the ONLY times I get a break! She's a loonatic! And she once snooped in another students phone AND THEY HAD A PASSCODEand she somehow hacked her way in. IM SURPRISED SHE DIDNT GET ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING A STUDENT AND SNOOPING THROUGH PERSONAL STUFF, it wasn't my phone btw, I was smart enough to not trust the teachers with my phone. But enough of me going on a rant I just can't stop talking about how much of a female dog she is. But anyways YOU CAN BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE. ITS 2017! Just DO IT XD.

I just started watching your videos and I couldn't refrain from commenting. I literally want to quote everything you said in this video! The connotation and message you're putting across shoots into so many aspects of living and pursuing happiness in the moment. This video was such a good reminder to not settle for mediocrity, but rather see things for their average nature, and be grateful for what that "mediocrity" entails. I loved when you said, "if you identify too heavily with some part of your life, you create blind spots for yourself that may keep you from achieving greater happiness." I also loved how this applies to art, self-worth, and how digital media plays largely into feeling successful. This was such a great reminder, preach it girl! 🙌🏼

Thank you Robin for taking the time to make this video. What everyone should realise, is we are like no one else alive. No one can do what we can and vice versa. I love what I do especially creatively. My whole life is creative (led by the creative impulse)not just my art. I believe everyone is born to create in some unique way. Its all about believing in yourself even if no one else does. Loving what you do and doing everything with love. Have your own vision. I don't equate success with money I equate it with satisfaction.

This is my favorite video that you have made so far. I think that we all get so caught up in wanting to make a lot of money, be super successful in our career(maybe even one that doesn't makes us happy), family pressures like getting married or having children, doing really well academically, as well as and other social pressures, that we end up constantly competing with ourselves or others around us and we lose sight of what really makes us happy. I was an artist all through high school and I loved it, but I had several people in my life that told me that I could never make a "decent" living from doing art. So I ended up going and getting a degree from a really good school and after over a year of searching I finally landed a job in my field of study. During my time there, I realized that my life the way it was at the time did not make me happy. I hated the monotony of waking up, driving to work, sitting at a desk all day staring at a computer screen, and working on projects that I didn't care about just to earn a less than exciting paycheck. Then after all of that I would go to job #2 and work a few hours, then when I got home I had tons of house work to complete because apparently it is not socially acceptable to leave clean laundry in piles on the couch, lol. After about 6 months of this I was completely burnt out. I felt that because I had so many "adult" responsibilities, I didn't have time to enjoy my life. I didn't have time to travel, to paint, to spend time with my animals or my family and friends, all the things that brought joy to my life were constantly being pushed aside to make room for my other "more important" responsibilities. I finally said enough is enough, I refuse to continue sacrificing my precious time(because we only have so much of it) for things that don't bring me joy. So I left my full time job and went back to working part time as a bartender so that I could have more time for my artwork and my animals. Even though I have less financial stability, I am happier than I ever have been because I finally feel that there is a balance between the things that I need to do and the things that I want to do.

I didn't realise how much I needed to listen to this video. I've struggled with self doubt and countless other negative feelings towards myself (just like so many others around the globe) for as long as I can remember and your words have really hit me. They've reassured me how important it is to simply focus and take the time to think over what the positive aspects of my art are and how I can reinforce my techniques or even my thought process into either more art or just life in general to better myself. Your whole outlook on your struggles and art journey are really inspiring, and I feel like I now know how important struggling/ trial and error is and how much I really have learned from it without realising. I loved your advise, thank you. I'm posting a poem here from Rafael Cadenas, a poet from my country, Venezuela. It was written in spanish so I hope the translation is a good one. He talks about failure and your video made me think about it. You have so many comments that I'm not sure you will read it but well I hope you do because its beautiful. Rafael Cadenas Failure What I’ve taken for victory is only smoke. Failure, language of depths, clue toward another more demanding space, your handwriting is hard to decipher. When you placed your mark on my forehead I never thought of the message you brought, more precious than all the triumphs. Your burning profile has followed me and I didn’t know that it was meant to save me. For my benefit you’ve relegated me to the corners, you denied me easy success, you’ve denied me exits. It was me you wanted to defend not granting me splendor. Out of pure love for me you’ve handled this emptiness that on so many nights has made me speak feverishly to an absent girl. To protect me you let others pass, you’ve made it so that a woman prefer someone more resolute, you displaced me from suicidal tasks. You’ve always come to my aid. Yes, your wounded, spit-upon, odious body has received me in its purest form to hand me over to the clarity of the desert. Because of my madness I cursed you, I’ve mistreated you, I blasphemed against you. You don’t exist. You’ve been invented by delirious pride. I owe you so much! You lifted me to a new level, cleaning me with a rough sponge, sthrowing me into my true battlefield, granting me the weapons triumph leaves behind. You’ve led me by the hand to the only water that reflects me. Because of you I don’t know the anguish of playing a role, keeping myself on a rung by force, climbing by my own efforts, fighting for hierarchies, swelling until I burst. You’ve made me humble, silent and rebellious. I don’t sing for you because of what you are, but because of what you’ve denied me. For not giving me another life. For having limited me. You’ve given me only nakedness. It’s true you taught me harshly, and you yourself were cautious! but you also gave me the happiness of not fearing you. Thank you for removing density in return for a thicker handwriting. Thanks to you who have denied my conceits. Thank you for the wealth to which you’ve obliged me. Thank you for building my dwelling with clay. Thank you for separating me. Thank you.

Hi Robin, I want to let you know that you're amazing, you really inspire me. Art has always been a way to express my feelings or just run away from reality, watching your videos has made me even more passionate about it and work a lot harder to improve my art. You deserve the world and please don't ever doubt yourself

The best advice I've heard is 'embrace failure' and I heard it from an artist about 2-3 years ago. Especially on KZbin, people learning their particular art, thinks it's easy; when in fact, it's a lot of work and disappointment to get to a level of progress that is acceptable to YOU. For instance, they're told that anyone can paint. But to paint well or at a level where you achieve a measure of satisfaction takes time and practice and disappointments. This is a very good video. it's important to know the reality of what you are trying to achieve. I like that you give specific measures to determine what you want to achieve and the importance of how that success is perceived by you vs. others. These are things that I've embraced over time by paying attention to artists who are willing to share their struggles.

I hate clicking on a KZbin video that has a compelling title and then listening to the KZbinr babble and not really saying anything that everyone else is saying. This was not one of those videos. I Love all the great practical advice. I struggle with comparing myself to exceptional people on the internet and that can demotivate me from doing any art. I should start measuring my success based on my actions and efforts. Thanks for taking the time to make such a well thought out video.

I'm drinking my coffee listening to this video and looking at all my art and thinking how I have felt like a failure everyday lately and honestly fuck it your right I'm grateful for how far I have gotten in the past year so what if I'm not internet famous or ever sold a piece of art or can't find my style. I choose to keep trying because ultimately it does give me happiness as well!!! Great video!❤️ follow me instagram.com/chanelsweetsshop/

I'm so glad I've stumbled across this video and your channel! I want to identify myself as an artist even though I barely even make art. But when I do actually make art I remember how much I love it. My biggest fear IS failure, and I think that's the reason why I have trouble just getting started. This video has really given me a new perspective, thank you!

It's been hard for me too. I started to feel like nothing I've done was good enough, but I realized that art should also be something we enjoy. If we enjoy it and keep working, we are good enough now, and will get better!

This video helped me realize a few things & motivated me because I had started to lose hope in myself as an artist, there's other art classmates around the same age as me but they're way better than me. I realized that I have to practice & work hard to improve myself. I had lost motivation to do so but I will keep watching your videos & start working hard just like my early days . I barely started watching you this week & I already adore you😀. Thank You💖

Oh my word! As someone who has gone through many many deep lows (mainly related to loss), being happy with my average life is what I consider realized in the past years. Happiness and contentment from (what others may consider) a regular life, aren't bad things.

Digital art is definitely real art! And it really does have a lot of advantages like you mentioned. It's perfect for animators, illustrators, graphic designers, etc. I think it's good to experiment with many different mediums, digital included!

Good wisdom , for all areas of life. I create art because it brings me such joy. Sometimes I have felt like I'm not good enough, but I was brave enough to keep going, and it is a journey that is worthwhile, no matter where you're at in your art journey. When a piece does not turn out for me, I say to myself, but I learned so much from the art I failed at. And I keep going.

I love your channel and am going to recommend my high school art students watch all your videos! One of the main things I come across is the fear of failure. I feel like I'm a confidence coach sometimes. I value your perspective in this video. It's spot on! Rock on girl!!!!
