Explain: In China, Class D and G trains are all high-speed trains. But class D running at speed of 200-250 km/h. The G-class train running at speeds of 300-350 km/h.
His comment is misleading. D trains and G trains are both categorized as high speed railway trains. The difference is the d trains' speed is limited to 250km/h max while the g trains can reach up to 380km/h

My wife and I begin a 19 day journey to China in five days. We start in Beijing. The first two days we'll be on our own before joining our tour. Besides the usual Beijing attractions, we'll fly to Xi'an for four days before taking the high speed train to Chengdu where we will spend two nights before flying to Lhasa, Tibet where we will spend three nights before flying to Chonqing for a three night cruise on the Yangtze River. We then fly to Shanghai where we will spend the last two nights before the long journey home to Orlando, FL. The two of us are actually looking forward to the high speed train because it will give us a chance to at least view a good bit of the countryside. When I think of China with 1.3 billion people I often wonder how crowded it must be, but as so many videos attest; there remains quite a bit of space for agriculture and so forth. Thank you both for taking the time to make this video!

00:47 Hongqiao is actually an airport and used to be the only international airport in Shanghai before Pudong Airport was in service. Now it serves as a regional hub for mainly domestic flights. The reason the train station is built in Hongqiao is because it can facilitate faster transfer between domestic flights/trains.

我来解释吧:动车组D,时速200-250k/h,可以在普通有渣铁路和无渣高速铁路上运行,价格便宜一些;动车组G,时速300-350km/h,只能在无渣高速铁路上运行,因为时速太快有渣轨道不安全。 Explain: The D series fast train can both run on common track with small stones and high-speed track without small stones, it's 200-250km/h speed, its price is cheaper. The G series high-speed train can only run on the high-speed track for the safety reason, to avoid the small stones hit the train during high-speed running, it's 300-350km/h speed. Both of these 2 series trains the windows are installed the decelerating glass.

Although I have traveled to Shanghai so many times with the high speed railway, I just realized that I haven’t viewed the Hongqiao Station from ground level for a single time. The subway system in Shanghai is so convenient that you don’t even need to get outside of the station to travel around (unless you are really early in the morning I guess). There is actually an Hongqiao Airport just next to the railway station, one that is much smaller and older than the Pudong Airport on the east coast of Shanghai. So you are not completely wrong to say that the station looks like an airport. As for passport check, it is pretty much because it is harder to have a unified system to scan all passports from different countries. If you are a Chinese citizen, you will have a second generation citizen ID card and you can scan it through the main entrance. Your ticket is also associated with you specifically (to prevent people from buying duplicated tickets and re-selling them for higher prices), so the information is actually recorded in your ID. You can simply scan your ID to board the train without even the need to print the ticket out. For the broadcast it is just saying welcome and nominating the sponsors of the train. It also gives a little more detailed explanation of the smoke detectors on this smoke-free train and the consequences of triggering or damaging it (the train will come into an emergent stop and you might have legal responsibilities for it).

between train and flight, i choose train all the times. the scenery for plane is boring while train is more variety and definitely much safer..

Nice job! Hope you enjoy the rest of journey in China! And allow me to give some suggestion about the itinerary if someone want to explore China from Shanghai all the way to the Western China Chengdu :) Shanghai → Kunming (8 hours by bullet train), then spend 5~7 days experience the most beautiful landscape in China which is Dali → Lijiang → Tiger leaping gorge → Shangli-ra, if you like hiking maybe it's better go further to the Meili snow mountain and have a nice hiking to Yubeng village and Camp one, after these you can take a bullet train from Kunming to Chengdu like 5 hours, I think it's better than take a 14 hours directly train from Shanghai to Chengdu, more relax and more amazing views:)

Imagine the D train as Scotrail+ Crosscountry + LNER, heaps of stop, bit slow, bit old, take 10 hours from glasgow to euston, and virgin train as G, 5 hours, you there.

The Chinese broadcast in the train, for the smoke-free train one, is not a secret .. the reason why they talk too much in chinese is because there are many Chinese passengers still smoking in the train. It’s not allowed because the detectors in the train are very sensitive. once detected , the whole train will have an emergency braking, which negatively impacts on other passengers and the railway control system. many people have been arrested by police because of it. even people know that, they still do that... they need to explain it specifically in chinese.
@RobandJenny5 жыл бұрын
AH! Thanks for the background info! 😀 We noticed in China it is common for people to smoke when there is a sign saying it is not allowed, we were surprised by this!
@yitingzhao39974 жыл бұрын
@@Matthew-bq3sb that’s true. I really hate people who smoke in the public places without caring others... it should be banned and give these people a designated place to smoke

The new Fuxing Train is faster and more beautiful than the old Hexie Train. You should try that next time. I believe it is for G Class

14 hours from Shanghai to Chengdu? I'm pretty sure it's Dong Che, D trains. The nicer ones are G trains.

Try Vancouver- Seattle on a «fast, non-stop » train, and all other trains in the world will seem really fast trains to you.

I figured this out with Chinese trains. That you can't use the machines to buy tickets, you need a PRC ID to use these. You have to get into the line with the actual people behind the window. For me, I wrote down where I wanted to go on a piece of paper, maybe what kind of ticket too, and handed it to the person. I also brought cash. Went okay, and managed to buy the ticket to get back too. Train was nice inside, and quite fast.
@RobandJenny5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have a good system 👍

@@RobandJenny I was visiting China for a job, and I was slowly getting more comfortable getting around. The thing I never mastered though, was saying names correctly in a way Chinese people could understand. I found writing down on paper was a good way of being sure I bought a ticket for the right place.

Hong Kong is also a city in China that attracted a lot of tourists in the past, but there have been too many violent protests in Hong Kong recently. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. I personally recommend transiting through Hong Kong to Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangzhou (cities in Guangdong province) and Shanghai. There is a high-speed railway. Tourists can travel from Hong Kong International Airport to Kowloon Station by Airport Express (this is a fast train but not the high-speed railway the media refers to), and then walk along a covered footbridge with good signage to the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, which is the high-speed railway station. There are always sufficient seats on high-speed railway trains, so there is no need to reserve in advance.

@@Kelberi america's controlled by the rich, by corp america thats why america wouldnt get fast trains that actually serve a purpose. sf to la; houston to dallas; northeast ocrridor. these the quality of life for the small town in between those big cities would vastly improve. but big auto and boeing against it sad
