In 2018, as a high school graduate gift for my first born who did amazing job with ACT and SAT score and as one of the national merit scholarship finalist winners, only 16000 in whole US in that year. My son want to visit China. So whole family of 6 with my parents and wife and daughter have one month trip in China. We flew to Shenzhen, then took bullet train to three regions, Shanghai, Beijing, and Xian. We joined three tour groups individually in three regions. We encountered issues at Beijing due to the greedy tour woman who attempted to force me to have additional activities and basically force me to pay more for the activities which are optional in the contract. I called the police and their highest boss in their company, I threading to call the city official over the tourist and federal government agency over tourist. They realized I was not playing. They back down by assigning one driver with one minivan to take care of business which they are obligated to do for the money we paid. They offered some extra such as Great Wall, no limit to the time we stay there. It was sad even I won the battle. I came back to have vacation, not to fight battle against anyone. I bet that greedy woman paid the price for the extra cost to her company. She must take advantage over many visitors. I would not allow her to take advantage of me. I have been a police man in U.S. over 27 years. I know how to deal with bad folks. Even I won, it ruin my vacation in Beijing region. We had good time at Shanghai and Xian regions. I would not be surprised that greedy woman was fired, they should fire her and she can make her company and boss having huge trouble. I will never join any tour anymore in China. Just free style travel on my own. I do not mind to pay extra tip, rip off, hell no.

@@JayandKarolina You need to compare it to flying and the time required or spent on your journey and add in taxi times and cost (e.g. from the airport to downtown). This is the reason I fly to BJ (from SHA) because even allowing for the taxis and extra time there are very cheap flights. However for traveling to my wife's home town (Wenzhou) from SHA we always go by train (station is 10 mins drive from home) as there is no major monetary saving either way, the train and experience is far more comfortable and convenient and we save time (arrive 20-25 mins before the train departs - they don't allow boarding until 10-15 mins before anyway - instead of 90 mins for a flight). Business Class on trains is the highest standard with lay flat, massage like, seats and usually only 4 seats to a cabin. Personally I don't see the extra value for short trips (under 3 hours) so always take 1st.

It is absolutely not normal that you see such a crowd waiting for green light at a crossroad and requires so many policemen to guide the pedestrian traffic. Judging from when this video was posted I guess it could be the Mid-autumn festival where the whole country has a 3 or 4 day holiday. There are always HUGE amount of travelers from other parts of China come to visit Shanghai on national holidays except the Chinese New Year, when everyone goes home (a little like the Thanksgiving or Christmas).

This week many gamers around the world voted BM: Wukong for the GOTY candidate and became #1 by a huge margin, but IGN manipulated the voting data from 90% to 71% and dropped it to #3 spots in just one hour and more such covert actions later on. Their tweet asking fans about GOTY candidate question also didn't include BM:Wukong picture but included all the other top 4 games candidates. US led propaganda with billions US$ budget won't stop preventing ordinary people from finding out anything positive about this beautiful country. Last week the US has passed over 25 anti-China bills and they proudly called it a "China week," which should be called an anti-China week (but you know double speaking is in their blood...). One of the bill was to approve a budget of US$350 millions per year till 2028 for spreading anti-China propaganda globally. This bill is a continuation of another bill that expired in 2024 that passed in 2020 with US$300 millions per year budget. There was also another similar bill with US$500 millions each year.

We booked it through a middle man website who booked it for us. Trip.com is definitely the best way to book train travel but you can only book two weeks before the trip. The middle man is more expensive and I don’t think it’s necessary but some people might want them to book it so they don’t forget and pay a small premium.

Fun fact about KFC Egg tarts. They are based on Portuguese pasteis de nata but were a variation originally created by a British man, Andrew "Lord" Stow, based in Macau. He married a local lady who set up her own shop after divorcing form her husband and she sold her own version of the original recipe, which she then sold to KFC, which they continue to use to this very day. Its very common for a KFC meal in China to come with an egg tart for dessert. I love them so much.

I traveled in China by planes and by high speed trains many many times but never had any experience of delays. Chinese airports are fantastic and high speed train stations are super modern. The reason why take high speed train is they are comfortable and you can have a good experience with beautiful scenery while plane journey is boring......Now China train network is the best in the world... ultra fast, always on time (98% of the time), no strike (If in France... so many strikes in France), comfortable, not expensive... Saw a KZbin video somewhile ago where some Western 'experts' said that China would never show a profit on the High Speed trains.I guess they miss the point.Chinese government heavily invests in infrastructure to improve the lives of its people. It's not about profit first. This the true.True you can not see it in Western media when they speak about china.

Booking KFC on a high-speed train benefits from China's developed 5G network, which can connect to KFC stores at stations at any time and notify staff to deliver it to your carriage timely . The departure time of trains in China is always on time by second, which is a very challenging task.

The hole in the ground is also a proper toilet. It's an old style toilet in Asia where you squat to do your business. Soda Biscuits is what the Chinese called cracker. The term is also used in places like Malaysia and Singapore. On HSR, second class is definitely more value for money. KFC China serves tasty fried chicken, much better than KFC from many other countries and the pastel de nata from KFC China is indeed very good.
