Cool idea, but I think Chainsmoker actually swallows you which causes you to get teleported to some sort of pocket dimension. Opening the Paranoia’s Box has an Eldritch horror so incredibly vile and terrifying that looking at it causes a heart attack instantly, and the person drops dead. I notice that instead of cutting to black instantly upon death (which would likely happen with your theory, as their mind dies while they are standing up and would not send information to the eyes) but instead you see yourself fall onto (more like into, actually) the ground before you die.
