3:08 I love your point about visual noise. I see a lot of people who not only do the shading incorrectly, causing an unrealistic effect, but I also see folks who like to make more custom faces and bodies. Custom bodies and faces aren't bad but what ends up happening is it ends up looking lumpy. I feel most of the gripes could be solved if people understood what they were doing as well as branching out into more original characters. I was really sad because yesterday i saw a blank the none spawn in, ask how to play the game, and was immediately recommended to look up a tutorial.

Once you get someone like this guy who knows what colors work together and how colors can work on OCs, you get someone who has REALLY sick pages of Custom characters and has full right to be criticizing these designs. What I personally do is instead of picking bright colors from the source material (Sonic games, comics, etc) I pick much lighter and darker colors that look more pleasing on the eye. It doesn't sound like much but it makes a HUGE difference. Most of these dudes who make the extremely complicated designs are actually nice people, but god most suck.

Wow! This is pretty accurate. As much it looks “stylish”.. this is getting old very quickly. It’s to the point my friends and I are afraid to try shading because some people would think we copied exotic. ( don’t worry we figured a shading technique) There is nothing wrong with having a style but sometimes, too much stuff makes it look off.. it even pains me to see some characters have certain “color tint” when their environment doesn’t match up lol Overall, I agree with your points

And you can sort of just go crazy with tinting, add anything you’d want as long as it blends in with the colors of your char. (Canon or Oc’s, there’s a tutorial on how to make your character tinted fyi.)

My biggest gripe with it is the shading used for the stomach with the metal body. Like, I ALWAYS see it as them as a giant ass hole in them, no matter the colors and it looks bad.

I'm so glad someone said it, I know I'm super late to this video, but oh my god. All the points you made in here I agree with. I actually was in a server just a bit ago and found a design that genuinely hurt me to look at. I searched up "Toei/Junio Sonic Pulse" and found the design, by the KZbinr "Blazer" posted just a few days ago. You would have a field day with that. If you see this comment, I would look it up to see what I mean. It misses the mark of Toei/Junio Sonic by a couple football fields. Anyway, great video, I genuinely hate how its all just these designs with practically no creativity.

I already have a deep malice against sonic characters in pulse but the cell shaded ones kinda send me off the edge. Things in pulse were already pretty bad when you’d spawn into a server and end up seeing 7 sonics but the emergence of the cell shaded style only enhanced the problem. Where before you’d occasionally run into an interesting au design, that slight bit of creativity is now being overshadowed by these, tbh, pretty ugly copy pasted sonics. The pulse community never fails to amaze me, they have arguably one of the greatest sonic oc creators at their fingertips yet they all share the same braincell to make the exact same sonic 40 times 🤷‍♀️

Well to be fair, some shading can be COMPLETELY out of control in this pulse update. For instance, if your shading dark blue and save it, it will be shown as purple stylization. So, just be warned about that

Ok so i use shading in my ocs but very lightly like i dont do the spine shading and all that but i do stuff like the liwer down on the oc the darker the color as that looks more visually pleasing to me but something i think everyone should atleast try is tinting! Adding a blue tint, just a light one can look so much nicer then just plane color i always make my whites slightly blue or purple and all dark colors i use a really dark grayish blue and it looks amazing, thank you for reading.

One of the few videos I see on a relatively unknown game so I may as well give ya a Suggestion on a Topic to talk about The God Modder Issue Yeah since it's a Roleplay game I'm not gonna spoil it too far but essentially there is a Group in "Sonic Pulse RP" Known as ATONE, which was Earlier Known as CCXE which accordingly is a Group of What is basically the Equivalent of a Police Force which has stated they are "Kill All God Modders Until God Modders Begin to Read the Bible and know their place" (said by their main leader). People usually have Mixed Opinions on the legitimacy of what they do, But It can be essentially be boiled down to a Bunch of Goof Balls going around and using their "Expert Ability" to Kill God Modders in Combat Roleplay and Absolutely DOG on them for cheating. The group has stated multiple times they do not Condon harassment and do actually scorn their members for doing so, but unfortunately they must repeatedly beat up god modders who do not learn. (we do not track them either, it's harassment to log peoples usernames and find them in games constantly. If you are a God modder and are about to lie yourself into making us seem like a cringey harassment group, you should stop being so easy to be find in the act of cheating in a game [Semi toxic note here; Stop god modding to stop having your overpowerpowered (miss spell on purpose) OC be beaten up in a sonic roleplay through text to text battles]) If you haven't caught on through my MAGICAL ability to know all of this, I'm basically the main dude of it. To get further information, find people who say GOD MODDER DETECTED and/or argue to god modders on what they do The Account of use can be put for help on making content as such (BIG NOTE HERE; If you about to go into the comments of this comment and comment some comment (comment counter lol) which can be considered toxic, it will be DULY Noted, and ignored. Yeah, these overly shaded characters just make me look like i'm in some weird group. (i use a bit of shading, but only the flat lower limbs, and the quills/tail stripe) i feel like i'm gonna get called out for even attempting to add even a tiny bit of shading like for example with the fox tail making the tail the darker color and making the tail stripe the fur color. also, on one of my (now deleted) characters, i used the peelout tutorial because i didn't know how to use the accessory scale yet and i credited exotic but even then somebody called me out for using the design and not crediting (the credits were in the bio, and not the form name.) so i was afraid of using that character.
