Fun fact: according to IMDB, Leon Nash's horror reaction in 02:05 was actually from his performer, actor Ray Wise. It's because Wise didn't know about the scene of Emil being corroded by the toxic waste and thus never saw the makeup process who gave actor Paul McCrane the looks of a person melting due to toxic waste. Ray Wise saw Paul McCrane being "disintegrated" by the toxic stuff and got truly scared. Similar thing happened two years prior, in the first Return of The Living Dead movie: actress Beverly Randolph, who played Tina, got a real scare in the basement scene when the zombie Tarman shows up for the first time. Beverly never knew of the makeup process which transformed Allan Trautman into the hideous Tarman.

CGI lacks humour and imagination! This was violent, funny and horrific all at the same time. Everything a growing teenage lad needed in 1987. I remember going to the cinema to see it with mates and none of us could believe what we'd seen. The sequels never lived up the first one though and the recent reboot was appalling!

Murphy suffered a mortal wounding, being helpless and having lost his humanity. If course Emil didn't have time nor inclination to contemplate Murphy's last days as a full human. I wonder if that's what the director was going for. It should have been Clarence getting that kind of death for a more perfect revenge(as he was the biggest killer), though a data spike to the jugular was okay.

Who else could do (great) absurdist schlock like Robocop, play Leland Palmer the next year, and decades later make hilarious cameos on Tim & Eric and Workaholics... Mr. Wise even briefly returned as dead-Leland Palmer for that *awesome* 2017 Twin Peaks revival 👏🏆
