@s.o.43392 жыл бұрын
To add some more horror to those two truly terrifying scenes, you can read or listen to the original directors comments. The first robot is not portraying it's former personality on a screen. It is meant, that his ACTUAL HEAD is trapped in the middle of that metal body. No wonder he immediately (correctly) identified all bystanders as villains and started fighting them - and considered himself to be a crime so killed himself as well. The second one is trapped beyond a metal shell with the absolute minimum of contact to the outer world as well, leaving it with only minimal openings in the metallic skull to interact with others . And yes, it is said, that this thing was not aware that under that metal shell, there was only a rotting skull. You hear the vacuum seal fail as it tears the metal face away, revealing a dying skull and thus, actually died in an instant after realizing what it had become. What a luck. Sleep well.

***** Uh, Robocop 2 isn't as good as the first one, like Ghostbusters 2, but they're both still good films. There's a clear difference in quality. The originals were astounding films, literal lightning in bottles, and while their sequels can't live up to them they are by no means "bad" films. Except Robocop 3, if you defend that garbage then you're just a tasteless hack. Also, giving the number of people of the opinion that Robocop 2 is an inferior film when compared to the original I'd say you're the hipster here. They also forgot to give the follow up Robocops a face, unlike what they did with Murphy (apparently they actually grafted his face onto a robot skull, which of course contains his brain). Verhoeven had this idea that retaining the face would be necessary to retain a form of identity for a person put into a robot body, even with the memories of previous life suppressed. This scene basically is a direct reference to that (notice how Robocain has a computer screen just so he can have a "face" to socialize with others)

I feel like the loss of Bob Morton and his Creative Concepts team, hurt OCP more than they even realized. Their Robocop version 2 progress is basically flawed to hell, and the working Cain prototype went apeshit and killed dozens of people. Johnson says in Robocop 3 that everyone can be replaced, but some consequences do come along with every decision made.
@allewis40083 жыл бұрын
Eh. I mean the Robocop 2 chassis was perfect for urban combat, it was finding a human brain that wasn't insane that was the trick.
@starsiegeplayer3 жыл бұрын
@@allewis4008 Actually I think the R2 chassis was not a good design. It required a truck to drive it around whereas R1 was able to drive himself around the city. R2 could slaughter alot of people quickly but that doesn't make it a good law enforcement unit. It felt like without Morton, OCP was trying to turn the Robocop project into the next ED 209 with military sales in mind. Morton was trying to make a crime prevention unit.

@@suna9555 No, you're thinking about ED-209, which proved to be flawed with what you stated. Robocain seems to be functioning fine and very effective. @suna95552 жыл бұрын
@@phillipwalling7470 his hands certainly don't look precise enough same with his legs. Robocain has a more industrial feel to a robot rather than robocop's sleek cyborg looking design. He's like twice robocop's size and his weapons are usually always out

@@phillipwalling7470 I agree, a far more agile, combat capable platform with vastly superior weaponry, onboard breeching tools, and a mean as hell look to boot. If they'd put a cop into that chassis, and he'd stayed sane, imagine detroit once THAT hit the street...
