Fun story, I grew up in 4th Ward Houston. I was in Kindergarten at Wharton Elementary when filming wrapped up. Peter Weller came by and dropped off whole bunch of new Apple Computers he donated to the school! Everyone got free Tshirts from Orion Pictures, and a signed Robocop 2 still from Peter. I was present during the final street battle scene in downtown although I couldn't see anything you can hear the guns firing all night. Thank you for this!

Wow!! That's an amazing story!! Thanks so much for stopping by our channel and sharing your fun memories! How cool that Peter Weller came to your school and donated computers. He seems like a nice guy, and I've read that he really values education. Did you know he graduated from University of North Texas? I thought that was cool as well. You're so lucky to have experienced this bit of movie-making history! P.S. We really enjoyed our visit to Houston, and we'll definitely be back!

@@Our80sLife Yes! I had learned years after when a few of my friends attended UNT back in '05! We were eating at a whataburger nearby when I noticed 2 Robocop Posters (of course the 2 Robocop movies being my favorite movies growing up) I mentioned how awesome that was that I grew up with those movies! That's when I learned that Peter Weller graduated from UNT!

Not a Robocop fan but I LOVE the 2nd film because it was directed by Irvin Kershner who was a wonderful director and he didn't disappoint. There is much of interest about this film. The warehouse scene is awesome. The showdown between Robocop & the mechanical monster is as epic as the showdown between Luke Skywalker & Darth Vader from TESB (which Kershner directed). Excellent performances by everyone. Tom Noonan in particular is having a good time. Great score by Leonard Rosenman... Enjoy the filming locations tour. It's a pity though, they didn't film any scenes in Detroit where the film is supposed to be taking place. Lots of great filming locations in Detroit.

Thanks for watching! We were a bit confused about that as well. From our research, we believe they used the old hospital on Elder St. (which was abandoned at the time) and probably also the taller building behind it (that's now gone) which is visible in the scene where they drive into the old ambulance bay with Duffy. Hope this helps!
