A powerful multinational conglomerate attempts to bring robotic law enforcement to the United States by transforming a critically injured police officer into a cyborg cop in this remake of the subversive 1987 sci-fi classic. The year is 2028. For a long time, cutting-edge robotics company OmniCorp has been supplying the U.S. military with drones for use overseas, though their repeated attempts to bring the technology stateside has met with fierce resistance. When devoted family man and upstanding Detroit policeman Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is grievously wounded in the line of duty, OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) attempts to innovate by recruiting top scientist Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman) to transform Murphy into a prototype half-man/half-robot crime-fighter. I love how he protects his vulnerabilities, in this film. As good as the original was, it did always bug me how somehow nobody ever manage to hit half his face. Whereas in this one, he's actively covering his exposed face.

By him doing that the film also recognises the vulnerability and then that brings up the question why was he built the way he was. The flip down helmet could have covered his chin. Whereas the original film had his bottom half of his face exposed so he appeared more human. No flip down helmet so by design, it was exposed.

Shooting the original Robocop (the good one) in the face wouldn’t do anything. He has a metal skull that they grafted Murphy’s face on to for psychological reasons. Even though they erased his memory, the reasoning was that a human mind would still recall being human so the face was there to help provide psychological continuity. If you look at the scene towards the end where Robocop removes his helmet, the flesh of his face is noticeably overlapping the back part of his head. This was intentional to show how Murphy’s face is just laying on top of his artificial skull. The ineffectiveness of shooting Robocop in the lower half of his face is even mentioned in Robocop 3 by street gang members.

This is one of my favorite moments of the film. The villain and his lackeys are actually fighting smart. They take out his motorcycle early on. They use heavy weaponry to deal serious damage to their enemy (I know they don’t look like .50 cal weapons but I can personally live with that). They actually hit him with several headshots. They legitimately overwhelmed Robocop on their own. Of course, Robocop’s human side pushes him to continue forward and he still finishes the job. In all honesty, this fight scene is designed really well.

Is it me, or does RoboCop's SMG weapon model change between scenes? Or does it look the same in every scene and I'm just not seeing it right?

I actually searched up goofs for this movie and it was there clear as crystal. RoboCop was wielding his SMG while in some scenes it changes to an MP7. How could they screw up something so incredibly noticeable? Usually movie mistakes are barely noticeable but this one was by far the most noticeable I've ever seen in a movie.

Maybe the prop broke (the SMG, I mean) and they were low on time and under pressure. It happens. MP7 is dope, anyway. This movie worked for me.

Because they're indoors. Overpressure from a large explosion is equally as lethal as the explosion itself. On the side of every missile launcher ever made are big bold letters that say, "DO NOT FIRE INDOORS" because if you do the back blast will turn your brain and organs into paste.

FYI to those who dont know, infrared produces light that is not visible on human eyes but is visible on most digital camera which robocop probably already has so the thermal was unnecessary. Still, having built-in thermal cameras is impressive considering that most thermal cameras are bulky

I am a child of the 80’s and, as sacrilegious as it may be...I like this Take better. The tone is less cynical, less gratuitously gorey and violent. Better effects. Bring the hate!
