CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Norton (Gary Oldman) succeeds at stripping RoboCop (Joel Kinnaman) of his emotions just moments before his unveiling.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A powerful multinational conglomerate attempts to bring robotic law enforcement to the United States by transforming a critically injured police officer into a cyborg cop in this remake of the subversive 1987 sci-fi classic. The year is 2028. For a long time, cutting-edge robotics company OmniCorp has been supplying the U.S. military with drones for use overseas, though their repeated attempts to bring the technology stateside has met with fierce resistance. When devoted family man and upstanding Detroit policeman Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is grievously wounded in the line of duty, OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) attempts to innovate by recruiting top scientist Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman) to transform Murphy into a prototype half-man/half-robot crime-fighter. When initial tests fail to provide the results OmniCorp had hoped for, Norton reprograms Robocop to operate strictly on software rather than human emotion. Later, Robocop finally hits the streets, and the citizens of the crime-ridden city welcome him with open arms. But as Murphy's emotions begin to interfere with his programming, he sets out to find the criminals who nearly killed him, and ensure that justice is served. Abbie Cornish, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, and Jackie Earle Haley co-star.

That would be especially annoying since it wasn't true. For one, they were both standing behind the suspect (even RoboCop can't ID someone from the back of their head), and two, when Sam Jackson highlighted them, he brought them to the foreground to make them look a lot closer to the suspect than they actually were. Might be a defamation case there, now that I think about it.

A wrongful identity suit would then be filed against you by Samuel Jackson for a suit that you made for 2 fictional cops. But then if you file a lawsuit against the character played by Samuel, it will probably get thrown out of court, because it's not a real person. If anything, I would file a lawsuit against Samuel's hairpiece.

@@Tantalus010 Well, Robocop _did_ point him out, _and_ said that he was under arrest, but those two cops apparently, instead of moving in on King, chose, along with the rest of the crowd, to simply part and give King and Robo room to move. Notice even when King lies stunned, they still don't move towards him. To be fair, they _were_ the ones who led him away.

So basically, all the cops really need was some sort of visor linked to the police database which can identify wanted criminals. That was literally the most effective crime-fighting tool Robocop has in this movie and it could be applied to almost anyone.

@@diegodelafuente5056 Most of that isn't needed for the majority of police work. A way to spot wanted criminals, with just a camera and an internet connection? Cheap and easy, while massively improving the usefulness of the existing police force. Doesn't even neccesarily have to be a visor, it could show the results on a phone app instead.

It’s actually kinda stereotyping news broadcasters. They have a welcoming white smile, a nice suit and a full head of hair. When you watch anything like Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc, do you ever notice that all the main male news broadcasters have a full head of hair? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bald one.

@@merendell well that's not what they're really there for anyway. They're not supposed to protect you from the virus. They're supposed to reduce the potential infectivity of a person who doesn't know they are afflicted. Sure it has the effectiveness of a plastic bag taped on a broken window during a Rainstorm but it's the most affordable option available to the common people until they can get a proper vaccination. A half-assed protection is still better than none at all. (Of course most of this could have been avoided if our respective governments had prepared everyone and taken precautions to avoid the spread of the pandemic before it ran rampant instead of telling everyone its all "under control" and there's "no need to panic" but perish the thought they actually use the money at their disposal for anything that isn't nigh-on nonsensical)

i love this movie, and mind you that i've watched robocop as a kid, played their games, and even have their figure. but this remake is good. not as dark and dystopian as the original, but just as good. this remake is what robocop is supposed to be. ethical conduct of making a human robot, government rules and regulations, and social acceptance. this movie displays the "transition" period in introducing a new form of law enforcement to the modern society (albeit the different society portrays between the original robocop and the remake) the original robocop kinda have the judge dredd feels to it.

The plot of this movie is that the company that build Robocop wants to convince legislators to allow them to sell their drone robots in the US. Robocop is essentially a PR stunt to convince people that "hey having robots on the street isn't that bad", because they can't deploy an actual robot, Robocop is the next best thing. All the facial recog stuff is software that only exists as software in Robocop's head, he has access to all (or enough) security cameras in the city but as far as the public is concerned, it's not an AI doing this facial recog, it's a human, which makes it legal enough.
