The first two news segments actually go together brilliantly, IMO. Like you have the segment that's all like "NUCLEAR WAR IN SOUTH AFRICA", then they transition to a puff piece about a silly incident aboard the 'Star Wars' SDI space station... which is noticeably failing to prevent the nuclear confrontation mentioned in the first piece, like SDI was (allegedly) supposed to do. Very clever!

I was once reading an article about numerous predictions the original RoboCop got right - one of which is cops wearing body armour. In the US it wasn't common in the eighties now it's everywhere with police. Well, maybe except the Czech Republic I vacationed there once and they weren't wearing body armour.

That was actually a jab at GM. They refused to let the filmmakers use their car (Pontiac 6000) in the movie so the screenwriters had a little fun with it.
