Great vlog, Breck. I lived in Dallas, and recognized some of these locations. My Farmers Insurance agent was a retired Dallas PD detective who worked on the force when President Kennedy was killed, and was in the building the day Ruby shot Oswald. Whenever I visited his office I peppered him with questions, and he always patiently obliged.

I work in Dallas quite frequently and always make an effort to visit at least one or two of these locations. I'm a huge fan of this movie, I saw it as a young kid and I guess it left a lifelong impression on me. It's fun to fantasize that these were real locations and sit outside the police station and imagine Sgt Reed is in there barking orders at his officers, etc. It's cool that the majority of these places are still standing almost 40 years later, because Texas isn't the kindest when it comes to tearing down buildings to rebuild apartment complexes and Walmarts over them lol.

Great video. I hope u get around to doing more filming location videos. The first two Robocop films are classic and I did enjoy the third movie eventhough Peter Weller didn't come back as the lead. If I remember correctly in part 3 Weller did appear in one of the flashback sequences from the first movie. Who would've thought Ronny Cox from Beverly Hills Cop could've played a great villian in the first movie. I was so used to him playing a good guy in the first two Beverly Hills Cop films that it took me a while to get used him playing a villian and he pulled it off perfectly.

Fun Fact: The two scenes in RoboCop that show the police department’s underground parking garage were filmed very near to where Oswald was shot. Same garage.

@@EscapingTheMouse That’s the Crescent building garage if I remember. I’m a nutty Robo fan and I’ve accumulated just about every filming location between Dallas and Monessen PA. If you run into a snag, I’m your man.

The Metro West precinct building from the movie was the old Dallas High School/Crozier Tech building which is now used for office space. There's a personal angle for me in the second shot with the Dallas City Hall. From '76 through '78 I worked in the old building with the cupola on the roof across from the city hall. It was once the 500 S Ervay building, which Bell (now AT&T) had at one time leased office space on the 7th and 8th floors. It is now called the Butler Brothers Building (as it was originally called when it was built over 100 years ago), the old offices are now condos/apartments. I remember watching from the break room window the new city hall being built. The city moved into the new building in 1978. I think the elevators in your vlog are located in the World Trade Center, part of the Market Center Complex on Stemmons. (correction, it's at the Plaza of the Americas on Pearl). Of course, the last building in downtown you filmed was the old Dallas City Hall on Main and Harwood. Another personal note: The condo unit where Robocop lived with his family is located in the Lake Highlands neighborhood. That condo is about a quarter of a mile from the apartment I was living in from '78 to '84. My apartments were then called The Landing Apartments; it's now called AVA West. I knew Robocop was filmed in Dallas, and it was fun watching your video and reminiscing about my old stomping grounds! I hope you didn't mind me doing so. I also enjoyed your vlog done a few years back on the filming sites in Dallas of Logan's Run!

I just went to some of these locations as well two months ago. The interior section of Murphy's house is actually a 6 min drive from the exterior part. Very close to each other. You were pretty close to other areas such as Deep Ellum and the drug factory. Also close to the precinct was the area where the two hoodlums were trying to rape the woman. One of the buildings is now torn down but its still recognizable.

It was a matte painting, not CGI. They show it in the making of retrospective.
