The commissioner was speaking directly to you man. I hope you feel proud of the work you have put into this series. It’s important and so critical to the fundamental principles of our democracy. Specifically around an informed and educated voting public. It can’t have been easy to wade through so much evidence, shocking testimony, dry frustrating answers to soul crushing questions. The chances of us crossing paths is slim so in lieu of buying you a drink, I hope this can help. Thank you mate.

The amount of work involved to present these condensed videos to us would have been overwhelming. Many of those who testified buried themselves with their own words. The arrogance of those who didn't care and the heartbreak of those who tried their best were highlighted so well. Watching we switched between disbelief, horror, anger, and deep sorrow. Your hard work to present this to us is greatly appreciated and admired. The Royal Commissioner even acknowledged the role that journalists such as yourself play. More and more people are following journalists like you on social media rather than traditional media.

45:43 "...can you tell us what an 'own motion investigation' is?" So the department of social security displayed an "unwillingness to engage" with the ombudsman regarding all the complaints? How ironic, that the department would choose to ignored all the complaints in the hope they'd all just go away. Pretty much like many poor vulnerable people saddled with an UNLAWFUL robodebt, but without the moral justification. Part of me wants nothing more than to do away with due process, assume they're guilt and just punish these pricks, just like they did to some of the most vulnerable people in society with robodebt. But then the voice of reason takes over, understanding that's how we got here in the first place.

Firstly, I know it doesn't put food on the table, but mate, KISL, you are a national treasure. Secondly, the evidence of the bureaucrats reminded me of Hannah Arendt's banality of violence, that most of the bad things in the world aren't done by unmitigated 'evil' people, but by average people, who for various reasons, conformity, self- promotion etc, do the most despicable things. The LNP government wanted to attack the most vulnerable in Australian society, and the bureaucracy were all too willing to assist in that.

I love how as the weeks progress and people are brought on again, you can see how they start to realize they were guilty. To be able to lie on such a huge level, these people need to obfuscate their mind from consequences and believe that what they're doing is actually 'alright'. Seeing that getting broken is neat.

Yes this has been an excellent series covering an extraordinary investigation. But unfortunately there has been no impact - the senior levels of the public service have closed ranks and are held together by the view that the Commissioner “did not understand Canberra”. There has not been a single prosecution - leaving the odious liars appearing before the Commission to walk free and enjoying their publicly funded superannuation and their new lives of leisure.

Australia's ironically named 'Child Support Agency' (CSA) also has long maladministered case files. CSA too has falsely and wrongly claimed debts and has garnered wages/salaries and income tax returns. I understand this Royal Commission's terms of reference do not cover the CSA (though it is part of the Dept of Human Services, and many CSA clients are also clients of Centrelink). Vast numbers of Australian families are affected by CSA maladministration, so there remains unfinished business. Further, Australian Government claims about their capacity and use of data matching is demonstrably grossly overstated at best, if not patently false too.

I don't know how to feel about the Robodebt investigation. On the one hand, it has highlighted the selfishness and malintent of senior public servants, and brought about greater visibility of the issue and an (albeit flawed) system of accountability for it. On the other, the knowledge that people in control of systems intended to help the vulnerable hold indifference, uncaring, and in some cases disdain for the very people they're meant to help fills me with fear, anger, and dread, especially as someone who is long-term unemployed and suffering from multiple diagnosed and undiagnosed mental health issues. Likewise, I'm sorry for and thankful for the parents of victims who took their own lives in light of these: the loss at the hands of the government is terrible, but their fight has helped their children find peace (the same goes for organisations and groups that have fought to bring light to Robodebt). Not least of all, thank you KSL for your hard work and dedication recapping and providing context to this tragedy. You've brought a spotlight to an issue that has already been moved on from by major news outlets and the greater public, something that should not be forgotten should the government want to improve for the sake of the Australian public.

The text at the start is pretty bloody awful. Between Turnbull tudge and porter. You can see they are absolutely terrified of running this algorithm with pensioner data and explicitly stating they are not going to target pensioners or properties. This is just completely unacceptable behaviour from a department that is supposed to be for all Australians. The unions and pensioners are things they will “manage” Why? Because the unions will fight for fair and pensioners will crucify them at the polls. I hope people can see how and why it’s so important to be in a union and why it’s so important to vote. Both of these things are a check and a balance on these disgusting human beings, albeit in different ways for groups with competing priorities.

It sickens me that people described as "public servants" work purely as political hucksters for the ministers that employ them. If ever there was a need to have appointments removed from government hands and made the responsibility of a hands-off independent body, this is it. The enormous salaries paid to these shonks is both an insult to taxpayers and a direct incentive for them to play ball with the boss in his political gaming. Frank and fearless has become fast and loose at enormous cost to the taxpayer, the law, ethical and moral behaviour, accountability and the fair administration of humane policies.
