I was addicted to heroin and painkillers for 5 years. I abused them so hard. And when I was going through massive amounts of withdrawal, I would draw a hot bath and listen to this song. It literally told me to hold on and keep going. I've been clean for over 8 years now, and this song still means so much to me. Rest in peace Chester, thanks for making such an impact on my life, if not saving it at times 🙏

You've got to be kidding, The Catalyst is for me the epitomy of the whole album, the album is progressive from start to finish and in the middle of The Catalyst is the release. Even the name of the song implies it being the centerpiece, and Jornada Del Muerto at the middle is referencing to the upcoming Catalyst.

This might sound stupid or extremely cringy, but when I filled out the form regarding my funeral proceedings in case I got killed in Afghanistan, I wrote in this song as the one I wanted to be played at my funeral. That was 10 years ago. I can't relate much to this song's melancholy and sadness anymore, but I still love it. It'll always serve as a reminder of who I was and the weight I've had to bear to become the person I am now.

I feel like people are starting to forget about Linkin Park and Chester. They tell me to move on, that Chester and LP are dead. And yet, they were the ones who said, "Rip Chester. Gone but not forgotten." I can never move on. I don't understand why Linkin Park is not popular. I know it's not all about popularity, but look at all the hard work Linkin Park put out. And now that Chester is gone, the crowd is just dispersing. And when Mike starts to sing by himself, people just say, "Poor Mike" but nothing else. I swear on my life, I will NEVER become one of those people. I will NEVER forget Chester, NEVER stop listening to Linkin Park, NEVER stop listening to Mike's new songs. I will forever be with Linkin Park. We're family, and families stick together.

True. They really experimented with the newer music to the point that no other artist ever did. However they are not the most experimental artists. Pink Floyd did a lot of experimentation especially on the dark side of the moon (namely on the song Any color you like). Dream Theater do a lot of experimental stuff and there are other artists who also do experimental music. I'd say Linkin Park was the first artist to ever push electronic music to this point and they were probably the best at it. It is no longer rock or electronic music, it is something completely different from what it is meant to be and I respect that about Linkin Park and about this album.

I would easily say this is one of the best songs in the whole Linkin Park discography. It really does feel like pure art, and the lyrics are amazing. It's funny to me how a lot of people complained that they stopped with the nu metal, rap rock and loud guitars, and I, couldn't be more thankful they did. If they kept doing Hybrid Theory and Meteora all over again forever, we could never get this masterpiece of an album, which happened to be their best one. (If not, still 100% my favorite) That's what musicians should do. Evolve. And Mike and Chester were proud of evolve, of proving Linkin Park could trascend in their sound and songwriting. Thanks, guys. Thanks for this masterpiece.

Few songs and artists can describe my actual thoughts and actually make me feel...this. Whatever these feelings are. Its so true. I have always thought that theres no reason to fight. For, who would fight for me? There is love but no one to give it to. The hurt has been for so long, it seems no one can know... Only the the weight of the weight has kept me from letting go. Loneliness in a nutshell.

I know he ain't gonna see this, but Chester helped me thru my grandfathers death and so much more. I wish we saw the hints and cries for help in his songs. I wish I could help him the way he helped so many others. It always seems to be the ones helping everyone else that need the help from us. And we never seem to figure it out until it's too late.. we love and miss you Chester!

This is my second favorite Linkin Park album (first is The Hunting Party), and I still can not believe how underrated is. It's full of hidden pieces of art like this one.

This song has always been my favorite, but it sounded so generic for some reason. After Chester passed away, it doesn't sound generic anymore. In fact, whatever Linkin Park did, (even the Reacharged album) now sounds good to me. Rest in peace legend, you were a great part of my childhood, every single song this band have released when you were alive, is a legacy now. It's been almost a month that you're gone, but can't get over the pain at all man. Feels like a part of me died with you. Words cannot describe how Linkin Park helped me to go through my hard times.

I dont know why singers dont have these kinds of lyrics and if there is such of type of song its not liked by many.. Many of them just have girls sex money party etc rubbish.. im really lucky that i listen to LP, a band which cant be compared to others.. and will always do..

This song hurts so bad. The great irony here. He was speaking about himself the whole time. No one knew his issues. He ended things because he himself lost hope. The very hope he tried to encourage others to have.

What he did for so many of us - making us feel that someone out there truly understands. It makes me cry just trying to imagine how much pain he must have felt, if the weight of the whole world (our pain) could not give Him the strength to go on, even if only for a little bit more...
