I like how the conflict feels natural. While K is able to interact with humans, he still acts according to his programming, and the priority of catching the perp over recovering the money feels like the kind of thing an artificial mind would end up figuring out to be correct, even if a human would find both equally important. The fact Shiba openly sneers and holds prejudice against K to the point of not even wanting to treat him as a person, yet constantly berates him for not being more like a person in his actions, is the kind of writing one can appreciate in a sci-fi story like this.
