Robot Dog Jog - How Far Can The Unitree Go2 Jog

I've been testing out my Unitree Go2 Pro Robot Dog. One thing that I was really curious about was how far can it go on a charge. Yesterday I did a test in the regular follow mode and it went 2 1/2 miles but it was a little slow for my taste. Today I turned up the speed, put it in the faster follow mode and tested that. To my surprise it actually went a little bit farther in the faster mode. I think this is because the robot ran for a shorter period of time.

Ordered my Pro 2 yesterday 😁 i hope the catch up fast with production. Should arrive somewhere in January said the sales manager. I am planning on design a trash bin for mounting on the top. I like your ideas 😁

Awedome! We will have to share trash bin designs. That's what I'm working on for mine. I think I'm going to iterate the design by slapping together a simple one and then seeing how well I like it. Then I'll move forward from there. I sorta wish the dog had some type of "tactical mount" on its back instead of the motorized strap.

Cool test! Was obstacle detection on? In the app if you set running speed fast it is considerable faster

Yes. I'm pretty sure detection was on. I have trouble determining if it is or is not. The dog only had one collision with a chain link fence, which I think it has trouble detecting. The "quicker" follow speed I think is equal to the medium running speed. I don't think it is as fast as the fastest running speed you can get with the app. I'm not sure why this is, but I'm guessing the dog has trouble following at the top speed or it may be more likely to crash into you if you stop short.

So, about the dog's difficult around corners/bends and such, have you tried moving the controller from your hip to the back pocket area? Or between the side and back (on an angle)? Perhaps it will "see" the sensor better??? Just a thought.

Thanks for the tip. The dog responds to not only the location of the beacon, but its orientation as well. If you put it on your back pocket, the dog would end up facing sideways and standing behind you.

Good show but like any machine is I worry about joints wareing out and the footpads on the dog wareing out ARE THEY REPLACEABLE.? Something to check on oh nice vid and don't forget to do a oil change on the dog and filter also to keep up on his maintenance you want your friend to last awhile.

The foot pads are replaceable. It comes with a spare set and you can order more.

You might have answered this already but can you use your phone as WiFi hotspot for the unit?

Not at present. I think you should be able to, but you cannot. Someone told me that in other parts of the world (outside the USA) you can connect the dog to 4G via a sim card, but here in the USA they may be having trouble making that happen.

I don’t think he understood your question completely. I’m pretty sure you could setup a second phone as a wifi hotspot, just not the same one you’re rubbing the app on

Yes, but not a lot. The Untiree website will give you the exact specification but when I pick up trash it is usually less than 10 lbs. (5Kg)

5kg is fine for things like sunscreen and drinking water. Now we just need 10km range for a decent jog 😊

This is the "pro" version. The $1600 is called the "Air". The "Air" version does not follow you. You have to control it's movements.
