Those Cheetahs look more confused than anything. Usually when they attack their prey they go for the neck or throat to suffocate it. They were both looking at that robot like "Dude, this thing doesn't even have a head"

Yeah, must be pretty strange for a predator. Even for new prey in a new environment, they can assess them by sight or smell, but they have no idea on this one. Can’t tell if it’s back it’s turned or not, or where it’s vulnerable. It’s just basically an intimidation and assessment situation, but no return on investment on the intimidation factor so assessment is a ???

I believe the Cheetahs behaved like that because the robot gave no sign of fear whatsoever. Those animals are fine tuned into smelling and seeing reactions in their prey. They could even be able to smell hormonal changes. So if they see no fear response then that signals that the robot is stronger or more dangerous than them, which in turn makes them fear it. That's quite fascinating to observe. Makes me think the whole predator/prey interaction is such a dance. I also loved how at the beginning the 2 cheetahs passed walking as like they were dancing, they were sinched. Metal robot met flesh robots. Very cool!

This is fascinating. One takeaway is that the Cheetahs were not sure how to react to it because they have never encountered a "creature" like it. Cats have strong hunting instincts and those traits are genetic. Even a cat never taught to hunt a mouse can do it. However, nothing like the robot has been passed along in their genetic dispositions and it's a true "data out of range" moment.

I myself get uncanny valley vibes from the robot also. I think a lot of animals (humans included) are hardwired to be cautious of something that "isn't quite right" or just seems off. Even with my knowledge that this is a robot, that there is nothing wrong with it and there is nothing to be afraid of, there's still something inside of me that really doesn't like how unnatural the robot's movements are. Additionally, the robot doesn't act like prey, which is also throwing the Cheetah off. Just uncanny and strange all around.

cheetah acted exactly as a cheetah acts, the way this went down was reminiscent of a honey badger vs a big cat, but i think this was scarier for the cat as it doesn't have it within its Rolodex of instinct that an animal who stands up to them keeps moving its feet ,or maybe that was the part that calmed them down, as it might have signaled "i am standing up for myself but have no intent to harm you"

Almost nobody seems to consider that the cheetahs were simply smart enough ("evolutionarily-adapted enough") to not engage with a weird, chaotically-moving metal object. They may well realize at some level that it isn't another animal (or a really efdup animal), and they are appropriately cautious.

Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES ❗️ *What is the Gospel?* The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Romans 10:9 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. JESUS CHRIST can come anytime! Just Believe ❤️ Love you and GOD BLESS

It's not about bravery, they're animals that live to either be killed or kill to survive. It's natural instincts to check it out and be cautious about anything they're unfamiliar about. The kids screaming certainly didn’t help the stressful situation. Having cheetahs defend their territory from something unfamiliar is fine and scratches that instinctual itch. However having the the children yell and observe at that time was halfwitted.

@kmcd6140 3 жыл бұрын
@@fight4ourright306 Nope, not domesticated. Never said they were. They live in a zoo. Probably born and raised. This is home. To remove the kids is a change to their environment. Whether you believe in the good work that zoos do is irrelevant. This is what they know. The handlers were there to ensure the cats didn't harm the device or themselves, and the pilot did their best to test reaction ranges. You can hear them talking about using the device to get an aggressive animal to back off w/o harm. The cats can't understand the kids. They hear yelling and honking, and whatever else all day, every day. If the kids weren't cheering for the cheetah to attack, it wouldn't be a normal day for them. Now, did the pilot show off for the camera? Maybe. That "sit up and beg" move at the end was pretty cute. The big tom seems to chill a bit at that point, too.

Also, a lot of zoos do heavy conservation work for the animals that do live in the wild, especially dealing with repopulation of endangered animals. Don't forget that the animals in the zoo are ambassadors for their wild counterparts on top of not being suitable for release back into the wild. That's not even mentioning that these are big cats that would gladly eat these little screaming kids, not a rabbit who's heart can explode if you look at it directly for too long. Cheetahs are lightly built single hunters. In the wild any injury that slows them for a few days means death. They have evolved to choose their targets very carefully and avoid confrontations that risk injury. They don’t know if this can hurt them so are being appropriately cautious.

That's a very interesting idea. In that robots can be used to distract the animals in a situation where staff have an important mission within the enclosure. The animals might respond in a more favorable way when confronted with something that moves similar to animals they would normally eat - but because it's behavior is so different the animal will constantly observe the robot to take in all that movement information.
