Very impressive! The 1300 dollars Go2 is better than the 74500 dollars BD. Unitree will be the next DJI.

@@PiefacePete46 From the video, it’s clear that the Chinese robotic dog wins. Without any preconceived notions, acknowledging the facts and giving some praise isn’t that hard.

@@lmn6335 : Fair comment. As you say, "the Chinese robotic dog wins"... however, it only wins this run of this challenge. I note you did not say it was "better" which was my point. I have no problem giving praise for a resounding win on this run. Sadly, I was not at the actual event. My reply was prompted by people deciding one contestant is "Better", based on what was shown in a single run. I believe that contestant can be declared the winner of that attempt... nothing more. Olympic Decathlon contests are decided after a number of attempts at a variety of challenges, which makes sense to me. One of the contestants here had an obvious catastrophe on the run shown... subsequent runs may have resulted in the opposite result. The winner of this challenge may not have won a different task. I also feel that the price, and the country of manufacture should not be used to reach a conclusion. Of course, if you are actually buying one, these would be extremely important factors! I am not able to do that either! 😜

The Uni tree dogs are being deployed in real world situations. Carrying supply up mountains, being SWAT team member of police, retail consumer use etc. this level of penetration means refinement and feedback will be orders of magnitude higher for Unitree. It’s already better than BD in some aspects. It will become light years better in a year or two!

Impressive performance by BD, but due to the sheer price alone I think the GO2 will have a lot more community developed software in the future (an in turn find more use in real life projects). Often times a large community trumps enterprise grade hardware/software.
@alhkcblack96175 күн бұрын
Cool video. The Boston dog is more accurate but slower. I think the Boston dog must be scanning multiple times more than the unitree and and so the processing is also longer. The unitree looks faster but not as accurate. Prioritizing recovery from trips vs avoiding mistakes to begin with. I would say if these were weaponized and chasing me. I would not be scared of the Boston dog as much because it's slow. I'll just throw a bunch of junk on the floor and it'll take longer to get past it but the unitree I'd be terrified of because it just scrambles over whatever it is, not caring if it trips or what, and just keeps coming.

Boston dynamics has been researching on its robots for at least 20 years. I wonder why they don't come up with some commercially affordable dogs (I do know they have some industrial and military products). To say in another way, even if the BD dog is "smarter", it's still too far away from the general public.
@dapje20024 күн бұрын
Why BD doesn't have cheap robots? Because like you yourself said, they have been doing research for more than 20 years, bearing all the costs for R&D. China just uses industrial espionage to pillage BD's IP, so of course they can do it cheaper without the research costs. I hope this answers your question.
@chengjung53004 күн бұрын
@dapje2002 I'm afraid that it doesn't answer the whole question. (1) If Unitree did infringe BD's IPs, BD should have filed lawsuits, but I can only find BD tried to sue Ghost robotics. And it brings to (2) If that's not easy to define IP theft in the robotics field, then that's probably explain why BD's ownership has been shifted around. And (3), probably the most important point, high research budget doesn't prevent it from coming up with some commercially affordable products.
