Few months back we got ducklings hatched in our home but the mom denied to accept the ducklings so I took care of those 13 ducklings. Now it's 2 and half months passed and the ducklings still follow me as I clap my hands. This feels really good ❤

Three of those were deceased recently😞 Only 10 remaining. Out of 13, 5 were female and rest male. 2 male and 1 female are no more. The mom duck also took out 15 ducklings about one and half month ago but this time we give them for rearing. Further she has also laid 13 eggs. Around 15 days have already passed and they'll hatch around 20 days later. I'll update once they are hatched.

It is sad! The 13 eggs she laid about a month back, she broke 1 or 2 everyday and by the end of 7th week Only two of those 13 were remaining! The eggs were supposed to be hatched by 16th of this month but she left the nest 3 days before! I was hopeless and thought the remaining two eggs were also lifeless! But out of my surprise one of the egg hatched, so i helped the duckling come out of the shell. The other one didn't hatch so i was about to bury it, but before burying i tried to break it with the spade! And luckily there was a duckling alive inside wrapped in blood p. I saved atleast two ducklings but they were very week and could hardly stand! Even i couldn't fulfill the role of their mother 😭😭😭😭 After two days one of them died. Now it's 6 days passed and the one remaining hs become very active and strong. I can hardly catch it. The life of my ducks and ducklings is continuing this way and I feel lucky to look after all those cute ducklings.

People are like "how unfair for the ducklings" It's probably more natural than being entirely dependent on the human, and it's not new to use a decoy as a mother. Some bird shelters use hand puppets to nurture young birds, because of how they choose the first thing they see as their parent, the caretakers are trying to avoid the hatchlings to get affectionate towards them, otherwise, when they reintroduce the animal to its habitat it will be drawn towards humans and not its own kind. And that could cause huge problems with big birds, whose main diet is smaller critters. Yey, these are ducklings, but unless one wants a whole flock of ducks around their feet then it's better to not let them get too confident around people.
