Customizing is always fun, imo, and adds value for money. This does have a novelty factor, but the "fresh" noodles and various possible flavor combinations and toppings make this sound like a good place to grab a quick lunch every once in a while. Thanks, Shinichi. 💙

I went here back in March. Since they first opened, they've made the toppings much fresher compared to the instant noodle "cubes" they started with, which meant everyone called this "instant noodle cafe" which isn't true. The noodles are prepared there and then and the combination of soup flavours you can choose from is really good. It's not the cheapest, but it's good for a quick lunch. Also the robot means only one staff member necessary while maintaining throughput when it's busy. It's very extra but it helps with efficiency.

@@ManticorePinionThe robot is cheaper in the long run I'd imagine. Always there with no demands for higher wages or time off or running late! That's why so much expense is put out to automate things.

I love the customization options! My favorite kind of ramen is the basic maruchan just because of how much I can customize it. I love making a shrimp ramen with the homemade teriyaki sauce from @tabieats and drizzled with Japanese Mayo and sriracha sauce. It’s a lot I know, but so good!

Cool concept and one I imagine will continue to grow. US restaurants are looking for ways to automate some or most of their food preparation and serving steps, so robots and kiosks are beginning to show up in place of people.

Since I retired in okinawa 5 years ago, I eat much more noodles than I did when I was in California. We have 5 ramen/udon restaurants close by in my neighborhood that we visit often.

That's true, and in some cultures, belching and farting is also considered good manners. Still doesn't stop it from being disgusting to some people. So the tolerance goes both ways, one side understands it's the other's culture, the other understands that it may seem disgusting to some people.
