Actually they are not only bosses but also playable characters. Most of the mobile suits in the game are playable, so you could actually invite someone over and absolutely wreak their shit with Big Zam or any of the other big mobile suits.

It looks like they created low poly 3d models and then "drew" the spritework on top, which would explain why they look so 3d. Dead cells (and a bunch of other games, some of them are even recent) do this. It costs less than hand-drawn sprites, but can still look good, like in this case.

It’s a VERY fan service based Japanese anime fighter, but it’s mechanics are SUPER fun and different from most of the fighters I’ve played. It’s VERY wall bounce and OTG heavy which creates some very fun combos! If you somehow see this, I’d love for you to give it a try!

I can tell from reading the comments that there is either a lot of people that play this game still or have at least played it before. There is an old thread on shoryuken forums that has tier lists and combos. Also there is a small scene of people that speedrun this game and there is a discord server for that. If you join the discord server I have posted some combos and videos for Bolt Gundam. I’m hoping that after this video more people will start playing this game. Also burning Gundam is one of the best characters, his down back kick special is a command dash that allows him to completely go through attacks for a certain amount of frames. You can use it to approach from certain distances and pressure or start combos in a way that can not be punished by most characters. You can dash through single hit projectiles or attacks that are already active.

Seikiha Tenkyouken...that's the name of it. (Yeah, it's similar to the Shinkuu Hadouken. You could even say Master Asia and his Master Gundam would have the Messatsu-gou-hadou version...) So...once they're unlocked, two of the cheapest McBastards in the game are the Full Armor ZZ (Double Zeta) Gundam and Gundam Heavy-Arms Custom. (The RX78-2 Gundam is close with that damn Gundam Hammer that can do anything from a little damage to an insta-kill)

So i tried to find a new one with clean disc. I remember i was carrying the disc cover around my game store since it was japanese and i can't read. There's also 2 additional characters you can access via hack; Zeta Gundam and Hamma-Hamma. The roster is pretty large considering it was on ps1 and the sprites were all original.

We did, and I won't lie, it definitely feels very much a product of it's time. Though I can't say it doesn't look impressive, and has a huge stonking cast of unlockable characters.

This game was great to really learn fighting games when I was younger. It had a huge roster that encouraged you to try everyone out, and the small technical characters seemed so much weaker than everyone else, until you put in the time to learn them. Learning how to play as the zaku and Char's zaku and actually starting to pull out wins with them was a turning point for me in fighting games.

Wow~! I remember this game on the PS1. Fun fact, if you play through the PS2 and have the smoothing option turned on, the game actually looks really good. Does anyone else remember the third game in this series that was released on PS2? That one actually wasn't as good. Max definitely needs to watch Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

@@xOmniCloudx no it wasn't as I'm friends with a fellow speedrunner who lives in Japan and to run a lot of fighting games. He has to run this game on emulator because it's hard to get a hold of a JP copy. The game was also released in EU as well. The original game was also released in JP but it was a sorta"championship edition" as Gundam battle assault (one) is listed as a different game on gamefaqs that was released in 98 with it getting a re-release in 01. So yeah I'll take his word on it supposed to say there is probably a JP version of 2.

This game is like my top PS1 fighting game. There’s so much fun to be had when unlocking all of the 30+ Gundam. And they all are so unique. My friends and I had a blast having tournaments with this game.

Thanks for playing this game! I really love the Battle Assault series! It's sad that some ms in Battle Assault 1 got nerfed (example: Sazabi) in Batte Assault 2 but overall it's my childhood game, even Battle Assault 3

YEAAAAHHH BOIIIIIII, anyways this game is legit fun. Oddly enough this version is Western specific which is cool. I would say its the best of the Battle Assault series and its a shame it never just continued. Anyways some fun facts about the cast. The character Domon was voiced by the same dude who would later voice Megaman X in Day of Sigma, MMX Command Mission, and MMX8. Also Domon's master, MASTER ASIA later voiced Sigma from Day of Sigma, Epsilon in MMX Command Mission and maybe Sigma in MMX8 (Its been a while since I played X8).
