Every robot has it's own character and paved the way for robot building in years to come Roadblock: Strong robot with decent reliability, could take a hit and had good weaponry. Showed the importance of lower ground clearance in the arena, a solid all rounder if it could self right Cassius: Innovative, the first reliable srimech and effective flipper which inspired some of the greatest robots ever built Killertron: All out attack with devastating weaponry for the time, unfortunate with its reliability issues Panic Attack: the first real "push bot" showing the importance of powerful motors and manoeuvrability One of my favourite series, thanks for the upload

Cassius was impressive. That self-righting arm which was fast enough to be a flipper, I think maybe Firestorm took a lot of its inspiration from Cassius. But with this final, with fast powerful manouvreable bots like Cassius and Panic Attack, at last we're seeing a few capable bots rising from the mass of slow barely functional bots that prevailed up till this point. And watching Panic Attack going for the house robots just for the hell of it was sheer joy.

Panic attack is the biggest underdog of all robot wars. I actually forget who Cassius fights in the grand final when rewatching series 2... With the intention of watching Panic Attack. I remember series 3 Steg more than them!

It pains that Killertron wasn't able to beat Roadblock to get 3rd place, it would have been vengeance for them losing to Roadblock in series 1! But it just goes to show that between the two of them, Roadblock is the better robot in a 1v1. It's amazing how astounded and hypnotised everyone is about Cassius's srimech in this series, then you get to series 3 and it's a common feature! As with the semi-finals, though, there's some great battles here. Cassius flipping Roadblock for its first (and only) loss was astounding considering how big and heavy Roadblock is, but that ram of Cassius really is fantastic for series 2. Though that drive by Panic Attack, waiting for Cassius to drive in front of them before pushing them into the pit was a great tactic, though I certainly wouldn't have been disappointed if Cassius had won instead.

Was Roadblock stuck in forward drive against Cassius? It seems to start driving forward after the initial collision and keep going forward into house robots, the mace, and eventually the side of the arena.

Theres an alternate universe out there where Roadblock dumps Cassius in the pit instead of just driving them around, and we talk about Roadblock in the same breath as other multi-champions like Chaos 2 and Carbide

I don't think Roadblock's direction of push allowed for it to pit Cassius when you look at it. If the former tried to line the latter up with the pit, Cassius likely would've got away.

I was always glad Panic Attack won because it did feel like the producers were pulling out everything they could to crown Cassius or Mortis. Not the teams faults of course but it would've been such a win for producer interference after Haardvark somehow put Cassius under pressure, they lose a chain, house robots quickly destroy Haardvark. Into the final, Roadblock really have their tactics on point, constant pressure, negating the more effective weapon, producers solution? Bring in the house robots to defeat Roadblock

In this episode? Cassius came back with Cassius 2, Panic Attack came back, Road Block's team returned with Beast of Bodmin, and while Killertron took a year off, they returned in Series 4. As for the series in general...well, 47 teams would enter Series 3, either with the same or an entirely new robot. 4 attempted to qualify for a later series, but didn't make the cut. About 12 disappeared altogether, a further 7 teams would resurface not in Series 3, but much later (as late as 7), 1 (Wheelosaurus) was an unused reserve in Series 3, and then there's Demon. A bit complicated, as the robot and lead designer/builder did not return....but one of the team members was the late and great Nick Adams, who would go on to make the Thing/Wild Thing line of robots.

@@danmound9526 Series 1 was filmed November 1997 and aired early 1998 and series 2 was filmed some time later in 1998 and aired from November 1998 to March 1999. Robot Wars tended to jump around the year a lot.

Seeing Panic Attack in later series I always wondered how they won the entire series. Luck and a very dubious fixed final. If Rex had wanted to he could have ended this in about ten seconds.
