I remember flipping through my friends Sentinels book but I didn't have this one myself. My friends were mostly D&D and TMNT and other Strangeness Paladium books. Robotech was my jam, though. Then RIFTS came out and I had so many other worlds to plug into it, including Robotech and even Macross 2. I loved the OG Monster and I even had a metal toy version of it that I got from an import store many many years ago. The long plastic quad top barrels and the gun arms that wouldn't stay in place. Well now you've motivated me to go look for it again😂.

I wrote a couple different timelines for different groups. I never used the base background, only because using the series as the backjground, we knew who the heroes were, the PCs felt more like support them. So I created a couple different lines. One group was catapulted into the future and another was set a few years after the invid with some idea from the net for their return; the Haydonites didn't exist yet. Did the same with the Macross II RPG they also put out.

What do you think of Macross II? I bought it back in day but never played it?

@@RichardtheDungeonCrawler It's not all that different. Palladium, so same combat rules and all. I have not looked at it though in a long time. The anime was ok, but not truly a sequel to Macross. The new cartoon series and RPG books continue the series, though like Sentinels, the cartoon did not go anywhere; the Shadow Chronicles.

I used the Sentinals matriel in Rifts. I never played in a stand-alone setting.

Hello there. Finally, the book that introduced me and my group to RPG (sort of). luckly for us, this was a core rulebook and have most of the system described on it. As you mentioned, the sentinels races of the Bearmen and Amazones felt underwhelmed against all the MD weapons going around. The book really made enfasis on using mecha combat. But I had fun using a garudan piloting a Saber Cyclone. the MAC lll was really.... a thing. in a game, one of us piloting an Alpha Fighter took one of those bombs from our Base Defense Froces, changed to guardian mode and flew over the assaulting invid. And dropped it from high into the largest concentration of enemies. The GM never expected that :). Even as we hated the system for no telling how skills worked, This book have a special place in my hearth. I like what the people of SMG is doing with the new generation and Sentinels settings. The reduce the powercreep of the smal scale combat and that really helps the sentinels races a chance to shine, as their system is not focused on combat.

@@RichardtheDungeonCrawler it was a very stressing one. We survived, but most of our base were destroyed. The assault was the las push of the remmants of the inorganics on the planet. We leave it to de Carbaran to initiate a mining process for materiales for space ships to build an allied fleet.

I can completely relate to the "buying all Robotech I saw" when the animated series has completed its run. The RPG was the thing that most kept the property alive for me. I had no idea about the timing of the books. My memory felt like they all came out in order crazy. I agree that the Mac III was rather uninspired looking. In my game modernization, I added an internal flywheel motor that turned the bombs into rolling land "torpedos" to be a little more practical. As for the Sentinel races, they also saw some modernization in my game.

Wasn't there an episode of Breetai, using a steel pipe to smash a vertitech robot in the dome? That and Ben dying was so revolutionary when i watched it as a kid back in the day. What's awesome too is the voice actor for Kyron was the same voice actor for Scott Benard

Can u use the sentinels book with invid book or do u have to use macross book to run invid invasion?

@starcrafter13terran Sentinels reprints the basic rules. So you could just use Sentinels and Invid invasion books. The Macross book would give you information on the old school RDF mecha and the Zentradi mecha.

We did not play the Sentinels. I could not stand the MAC III and the MAC II was my fave (but never played because).
