Both IG-11 and the Death Star are similar to each other: They both were completely destroyed in huge explosions that literally nothing can be salvaged, yet in a few movies or episodes later huge chunks of them are still intact, despite being completely destroyed.

In no way am I defending the ridiculous writing of this show. But I will defend one part and that, the Death Star in Return of the Jedi isn't the original Death Star. It was a new one that was being built over Endor. The first Death Star was completely destroyed in the first movie. But the Empire was trying to construct a Second one to rule the Galaxy with.

To make a crap defense for IG-11 still being mostly whole: We didn't *see* him gib, or anything. Assuming he was armored in such a way to withstand concussive force, he could be in recognizable shape. Why he wouldn't have just been blown into the lava, though, is beyond be. Or, it was solely intended as a Terminator 1 reference: Blown up killer robot, missing an arm, with an intact chest and head, finished off by crushing it? Seems like a reference to me.

The statue crushes its head. The blaster hits its shoulders. Make fun of him for his aim, but it's star wars we're talking about. Characters are marksmen or novices depending on whether it is convenient. Also, blaster damage is very different to any type of harm that can be applied in the real world. It is not pure impact like blunt damage, or a piercing force like that of a sharp weapon. A blunt force to a droids head under the right circumstances would absolutely do that much damage.

This could clearly be described as a commitment ritual, the young mandos being given a responsibility which makes them feel more connected to the cult. And they can remove the helmets, but only under specific circumstances. Realistically. the armorer probably works on their helmets every so often, whilst they wait in their quarters.

Spoilers for Episode two: It almost seems like they are trying to discredit Mando. Like they realized that he was awesome and capable so they had to change that. Episode 1 he cant hit IG-11 and he cant talk to the little aliens, and his plan is stupid (that being using IG-11 instead of some other droid). Episode 2 really suggests that he is inept all of a sudden. First he can barely handle 3 alien dudes that attack him in the cave, then he easily gets captured and cant get away, then he gets pulled underwater or maybe falls and sinks into the water (not too sure, nothing was shown that suggests he was pulled into the water). Then to top it off, we have clean comparisons of Bo Katan to Mando in episode 2. Mando can barely handle 3 of the alien creatures, Bo Katan beat 4 of them easily. Mando still cant wield the Dark Sabre, Bo Katan easily can. Mando gets caught in a trap, Bo Katan sees a trap coming and is not taken by it. Mando can't find the entrance to the mine, Bo Katan shows it to him (this one isn't so bad since he had never been to the planet). Mando sinks to the bottom of a super deep cave lake, Bo Katan saves him immediately. On a side note, if Mandalorians jetpacks work underwater, then why did Mando take off his jetpack. I assumed because it could be damaged by water and wouldn't work, however Bo Katan's worked fine. It is just stuff like this that doesn't make sense, and seems like they are trying to make Mando inept for some reason. Not a fan of this season so far, very disappointed. I actually like the two Mando episodes in the Book of Boba Fett (just wish it wasn't part of that show). I didn't even hate the Book of Boba Fett (thought it was stupid but didnt hate it), but this is a terrible start to a season. Especially after the finale of Season 2 that brought the show and the characters to new places.

As for the IG-11, that was somewhat stupid but only as a plot convenience. Now- Bo Katan has alot more combat experience than Mando, and in that scene he's using the dark saber, a weapon he's still not that good with, because he hasn't at all accepted the responsibility of it yet, and Bo Katan has alot of combat experience with him. As for the lake thing, I did feel like that was a little stupid but it was just a meh excuse to have the characters encounter the Mythosaur.

I think I was mainly sharing aspects of the right that pull me out of the moment of it and affect my suspension of disbelief. That’s my overall concern, iv loved this series and I would hate to see it fall by the same sword marvel has, that being terrible writing where characters and things don’t make any sense. Also your right about the aliens, initially he didn’t understand them and he just kind of seems dumb in the moment after he so handily deals with sand people it was just a stark contrast. But when I watched it I laughed so don’t get me wrong. And Bo Katan, im not complaining about her being skilled, it all makes sense, it was just direct parallels to Mando that it made him seem out of character. Iv softened a bit about it all once I read that perhaps it was written this way to show how Mando being driven by his religion has clouded his judgment, and impaired his skills. Either way, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to hate on the show, it’s still leagues above the writing of obi wan, or most recent marvel things. Thanks for your thoughts and keeping me honest lol

@@christian11111 I had the same initial reaction about Bo Katan and Mando at first. Mando is more than capable but I think it was less about skill and more about the uncertainty of the environment. Mandos never been to Mandalore and doesn't really know what to expect. Him getting overwhelmed kinda makes sense considering he and the audience are all under the expectation that life on Mandalore is non-existent. The robot creature also seemed like it's caught multiple people considering all the helmets on the ground when Mando was captured. Bo Katan knows Mandalore and the Alamites so I assume she would manage better against any threats (plus she also already on high alert since Mando was captured). As for the IG11 stuff I still don't really like the show bringing it back considering the droid literally blew up. Felt extremely cheap. I really hope the show continues down the path of reestablishing Mandalore with Mando at the forefront. Feels like we have some overarching purpose for the show rather than Grogu and Mando going on random adventures. Sorry for the long comment.

It felt a little cheap to me to just have Bo Katan chilling on a throne with no one around filling in a ton of story that all happened off screen. They basically threw away the thing that made the show interesting and worth watching. Getting Grogu to Luke and the mystery of this yoda baby we still don’t really know. They erased all of the progress season 2 made in one episode on a show that isn’t even it’s own. Removed all of Mando’s character development from season 2 and we’re back to square one. The first episode even feels empty like they’re not sure what to do from here. Why not leave Grogu with Luke and we check in on him occasionally and we have mando and bokatan trying to redeem mandalore on a separate story line and then idk bring luke and grogu to help in the end? Idk I’m not a writer but I feel like that would be so much more satisfying than what we have now which is once again. Shit. Thank you Disney

That wasn't what made the show interesting, it's what made the show possible. What made the show interesting was the din djarin grogu dynamic. And that's what's changed. It may be difficulty to undo the work of a cult, but Din is alot softer around Grogu, as well as more fatherly. He's no longer a gruff and angry bounty hunter. The mandalorian does not work without the Grogu-Din dynamic.

What bothers me is why can't Mando simply do a trial by combat, fight the best warriors of the clan since it seems they recovered some of their numbers behind the scene "somehow" and maybe one very hard hunt that would lead to great honor and glory, it would fit the lore and everything. But no we must do the videogame questline without any development or recognition for past events, and unless you watch Book of Everyone this season starts as a "somehow Grogu returned". I for one can't blame John , he had to cover up for his boss and the marketing team who decided that bringing back Grogu was a good idea against all plot points and development.

The time jumps are STRAIGHT out of The Clone Wars series. Every episode feels months apart. They're relying on the 'Each episode starting off with an implied "Text Crawl" model' of things that have happened in between seasons. It works for how serialized that series is. It does not work here, when one character is the centerpiece.

I totally forgot about how he one shot IG-11 in the first episode. Also I think so far Bo Katan is a lot more likeable in this season (when she's not around Boba). The whole Mandalorian Creed thing comes from Dave and Jon observing other warrior cultures, but it honestly the most annoying thing in the Mandalorian, like you said, it always seems to destroy his character development.

I think you'd have like the Mandalorians before TCW came out. Karen Travis and many others had already fleshed their culture out, even creating their own language. That all went out the window when TCWs portrayal of Mandalore came and Karen Travis left because TCWs portrayal went against all previous work that she wasn't going to bend the lore over just to fit her Republic Commando books in with the cartoon. Which in hindsight, I think trying to force TCW into the old EU was a mistake. Could have been separate from the EU as its own continuity from Episode 2-3.

To explain Favreau's explanation. It's now been leaked that Kathleen Kennedy forced them to bring Grgu back during the BoBF so Favreau's plans for season 3 got completely messed up and that's why everything was initially set to 2 years but the retconned to like one. It also fits with what we see in the show. None of the scenes really require Grogu. Mando spends all of his time working with other characters, and the story centers around Mandalore. Swap Grogu getting Bo Katan for R5 calling her in distress and you can easily remove Grogu from this season.

Hellyeah, there are some logic faults - like f.e. why Mando was trying to obtain some droid, when he can pressurize his helmet and then he can safely search for the waters, or why he even took that droid from that female mechanic when he especially said that he doesn't need the droid but wants the already blown-up droid who he trusts but with a new memory it's going to be a whole another droid = like nothing makes sense in this show :D .
