Thank you for the video. I have all four versions of the LIS robot that were available from Diamond Select Toys and just recently acquired the Trendmasters chrome version. Although the scale may be slightly different, I prefer the Diamond Select Toys iteration of the B9. I display mine out of their boxes because I enjoy pressing their buttons to hear all the phrases they say and, of course, seeing all the flashing lights. It's quite a sight when I activate them all at the same time and turn off the lights in the room 🤣. My only complaint would be that I wish DST and Trendmasters had designed the arms to face more forward.

I love these! Back when these came out, a local store here had them marked down after the holidays and I bought every one of them they had. I have about a dozen of these and the silver one too. I also bought out their smaller versions of them as well as a couple of the Jupiter 2s which are rather rare. I was so glad to see such an accurate version of the LIS robot since there wasn't much out there since the original Remco robots came out.

I bought the regular Trendmasters LIS robot new in 1997. Loved it. Also had their Robby which was extremely nice. I've since sold them, and last year bought the Diamond Select LIS robot which is even nicer in my opinion. The light display in the chest and head alone makes it worth the money.

Never seen those. The Chrome one reminds me of the intro scene of the B9 robot in the pilot episode. The footage played with the light to give it more effect. Very cool the head bobs/up.down, I like that they used the robots' power shunt module to be the on/off switch. Nice !! I recall an episode where the robot had an additional claw option because we see it playing chess. Should have made that instead of a laser gun.

When the robot is in sensor mode, it will detect motion or proximity, not sure which, and speak. But I think they messed up. It always says the "Danger! Danger ..." line, not the "My sensors indicate an intruder is present!" line which would make much more sense for "sensor" mode! Also, on mine, when the arms are released, they are posable.

Nice video! Here is a fun fact. I have heard the Diamond Select Electronic B9 (still available to buy today) uses this Trendmasters tooling from the waist down. They had to create a new slightly larger body barrel in order to get the electronics to fit. That is why the Trendmasters original is better proportioned. The Diamond Select version has an upper body that is made to a slightly different scale than the lower half of the robot. I have both versions and like them equally well. Trendmasters also did a great job with Robby the Robot who is smaller than the new WalMart version but I think a little more accurate to the actual prop.

I think if you move the green switch to the A position it will say more phrases. One of mine does and I think it’s the Trendmaster.

That’s one of the few robots still in my collection. The sensor stopped working on it, so it’s only manual control now. I’d never seen the chrome one before; that’s really stunning. They should have made a “Golden Boy” version.

I got one last year that was supposedly never taken out of the box, it still made sounds and lit up a little, but would not twist or raise it's top, I'm guessing because it was all wired and fastened to the box all those years. It was really tied in there, in good condition though.

I got one last week (grey). The seller was moving house and having a clear out. He said the right arm shot out when the button was pressed and he hadn't bothered with the electronics. Just had it for display. When it came found the arm did indeed shoot out. Opened the battery compartment and found the battery contacts covered with leakage from the batteries. Cleaned them and fitted batteries and got the two phrases, and that was it. Opened it up and found the gear mechanism damped with silicone fluid and the cog on the motor had split with teeth missing. Found someone on Amazon selling packs of assorted plastic gears. Hoping one might fit, I set for a pack. Luckily, when they came, one did indeed fit. Fitted it and put the motor drive mechanism back together. Found the mechanism locking but pushing the cog further on the motor shaft fixed it. Lined up the upper body with the motor drive and put it back together. Got the moving body and phrases and also the motion detection. When I get round to it might replace the red LEDs with a blue one for the speech display and white ones for the others. If you still have yours and are up to opening it up and removing the motor drive, I'd have a look at it. The motor might be seized with the silicon fluid. I live in the UK so posting it complete would probably be pretty expensive.

I have both of these. I was kind of disappointed that they also chrome-plated the legs and treads (the actual treads, not the "feet"). Those should have dark gray, like on the normal version. And with either version, I was always disappointed that the arms were mounted at such a weird angle. I know they did it so that it would look more exciting when the arms are out, but I would have preferred if you could push them in to the classic "at rest" pose. I wanted one of the 7" versions, but... I checked the Trendmasters website every single day and it always said "Coming soon", then one day it said "Sold out". When I emailed them and asked why, they told me that I was only checking the online store and that all of their stock had ben shipped to physical stores weeks ago! I never saw a single one of the 7" robots in any store I looked in. They only had the 11" ones and some by (I think) Toy Island.

@lurkerrekrul10 ай бұрын
@@Robothut I've mostly given up "collecting". The last thing I really collected was the line of 7" Sideshow figures of the Universal Monsters. I bought all the normal ones, then they came out with B/W versions, clear versions, larger versions, etc. I also bought most of the McFarlane Movie Maniacs series, up to the point that it turned into the Aliens vs. Predator series. I missed some figures from the last series before that though, and never managed to get the closed-mouth Tooth Fairy figure. Now, I go into stores and they have "collectible" figures priced at $30-50. Yes, they look very nice, but I'm not paying that for a glorified action figure. Especially not when the only reason the price is that high is that the companie making them realized that they could charge more for "collectibles" than they could for toys. Even then, I looked at a Halo figure in the toy department and they wanted like $25 for a 7" figure! I watch at videos from people who buy the high-end figures that are over $100 each and think "Are they nuts?" They must spend several thousand each year on them. And they're'not even the ones buying the half-size and life-sized statues and busts of characters. At this point, if I can't find something at my local store, or maybe Amazon for less than $2 per inch of height, I'm not buying it.

would it be possible to show the B-9 Robot from I'm guessing 1968 or 1970? I remember in School, our class having a birthday for a kid and his mother brought in the B-9 Robot as a gift. I wished I would have had the opportunity to own this but the store no longer had it in stock. was I remembering this Robot being better then what it was or not? I know it was mechanized and required batteries but that's about it.

I remember this coming out. But I missed out on it. I've been hoping the company that came out with the Robby a couple years ago, would come out with a LIS Robot. Or was this it and I'm getting the order mixed up?
@outsider2382 жыл бұрын
I was hoping the same thing. I'd also like Hallmark to come out with an ornament since they did Robby a few years ago. These ones came out in 1997 to coincide with the movie that came out.
@morlockmeat2 жыл бұрын
@@outsider238 - I was hoping the same thing - that Hallmark would come out with a LIS Robot ornament after they had Robby. In fact, if Hallmark was smart, they could come out with a slew of LIS ornaments. Like the chariot, the space pod, the characters, the monsters, the Jupiter 2, etc., like they did with the Trek franchise.
@outsider2382 жыл бұрын
@@morlockmeat I actually wrote Hallmark back when Robby came out to tell them how much I loved that ornament. I suggested at that time all those exact things to them for LIS! 😁 My guess is it's a licensing thing. I'd love a whole series of Lost In Space ornaments!

@@outsider238 - Ha! Sounds like something I would've done. Yes, I'm sure it's a licensing thing. Yet Jonny Lightning did it. I was hoping Hallmark would also. For some reason, they halted their Planet of the Apes ornaments, only after producing 2 characters, when I thought they could've gone for a number of years on it. My guess was that they weren't popular. Go figure.

Un screw the screw on the bottom battery door, then lift the battery door off. If it is stuck, then try prying it off with a flat blade screwdriver or a knife.
