Pelvic floor exercises for men • What men need to know ...
The following video covers some important information for those men awaiting a robotic radical prostatectomy for the management of localised prostate cancer. The video highlights the process that men can expect leading into their surgery and what can be expected after their operation. Prior to surgery men have work up that includes a visit to the pre-admission clinic as well as a stress echo. This assessment ensures that men have no heart issues before proceeding on with surgery. Men are admitted on the day of their operation with the majority spending one night in hospital only. All men are discharged with a catheter in placed which is removed after one week. A cystogram is performed prior to removal of the catheter. Once the catheter has been removed men need to start pelvic floor exercises again to regain full urinary control. For those men interested in sexual function a discussion regarding taking PDE5i will be had and these drugs started if wished. For those with additional questions please contact our office or leave a comment below.
