Hey rob, I don’t know if you know, but having too much plants in a single tank or tub/pond, can produce oxygen during daylight but during nighttime, it’s reversed, the plants stop using photosynthesis and takes up the oxygen in your water at night. The Best way to fix that is to have an air stone to keep more oxygen in your water so it can do a gas exchange in your water during night time. Could explain why your molies are exhaling for air and with the water being warmer due to spring, they require more oxygen in that body of water. Hopefully this helps you rob
@RobsAquatics8 ай бұрын
That’s a great point
@patriciaramirez56328 ай бұрын
I'm sorry, but that is absolutely not true. Plants have zero need for oxygen. They solely rely on carbon monoxide we produce that when we breathe out, plants suck it in, and basically when they breathe out its pure oxygen. Plattys are tropical fish, and they most likely suffered from the cold. Or, if it got too warm, there was no water flow, so any oxygen stayed at the top, leaving the bottom of the tub with little to no oxygen. You really need to have air stones at least to move the water.
@Galemor18 ай бұрын
That's just for underwater plants, the floating plants are not using or producing oxygen under water. The higher temperature will deprive the water of oxygen. So I think that's what happened mostly. To many fish, not enough oxygen, the weakest died first.

Yes this is on the money bro. Nice

Read my post. Hyacinth plants take oxygen out of the water. And true a airstone or some kind of flow would help. But the tub is too small for the amount of plants in there

Hey Rob if you want to help with heat and direct sun light you could always use like a trap style tent to cover the top. The ones that ppl use when they’re at the beach and it’ll help with heat?!?! Plus I would add an air stone for gas exchange. Good luck bud.

Rob buddy😢 even if it's a WATER RECIRCULATING PUMP, keep the water moving! We use a " Geyser " aerator in ALL OUR tanks and holding tanks. 😂 You know the ones that simply shoot water up in the air. Lol Actually my Dad used a recirculation pump and tagged up a shower head so the water was CONSTANTLY moving and showering down on the water, creating aeration / adding oxygen. Be creative, and you will get the results you want at a fraction of the price. You could just pump water from the canal ❤ STAY STRONG, KEEP PUSHING and KEEP YOUR FAITH! Just another bump in the road bro!

Dear Rob, I feel for you. I have an outside pond with gold fish. Some I have had for 20+ years. They were bought as 2-3” tiddlers when our offspring were at primary school. They are now fat and a foot long. I HAD about 20 - all varied white, gold, red and black. With short tails, long tails, big butterfly tails. They had survived two house moves. My darling husband popped the hose in the pond to fill it up. Usually I run the hose through the filter, which then goes through the plants in the pond and then into pond. 6 hours later I came outside to 12 dead fish, 2 dying and the rest suffering. Chlorinated water!! 😮 I ran to get the water ager.and dechlorinater two whole bottles went in. Water through the filter. I saved the two fish ( Ghost & Fatty) but the rest were gone. I was in tears, inconsolable. I had to dig a mass fish grave. I was sad for days. It shows you how tough goldfish are, but also how attached you get to your little friends. I feed them every day. They come to the edge and I can hand feed them. Their little mouths make blooping noises as they eat… very sweet. Since the “Event” they have bred and two new babies have appeared. I’m going to buy some new fish soon as soon as the temperature drops. It’s late summer here. Great video Rob and Camera Girl, I wish you nothing but the best with your new venture. NZ is a bit far to send fish and MAF would NEVeR allow them in the country! 😅😊🎉🎉

Enough is enough Rob. Renters have rights too. As long as you have not violated the lease and you paid the rent on time they can't kick you out. Being a KZbinr your life is an open book no way to hide anything from a landlord. So you have no choice but to strictly follow the terms of the lease. So make sure any lease you sign is something you can live with. For example no aquariums in the house no cats in the house. Also since crazy things happen while you're making a video I strongly suggest that you make the intro to the video after filming the video. That way you can tell us exactly what's going on from the very beginning and you look more organized. Your videos have come a long way you are doing a great job.
