The pub experience is such an integral part of the experience of being on the UK that I think it is underestimated by residents just how important and lovely it is. It is so comforting to know that you are never far from a place where you can rest and refresh, and that often this includes enjoying yourself in an historic establishment that has provided this service for hundreds of years. Rob, your videos are just terrific and I appreciate them greatly.

Another great video Rob. Having worked and walked around London for over 40 years, I have visited all these pubs and love them all. The Three Kings w14 was our local when I worked for a time in Ashfield House, although the real ale was often not very good at times in the 80s. Thank you in particular for telling the story of Dr and Mrs Salter and their tragic daughter Joyce. The thieves who stole the bronze statue of the legendary local hero Dr Salter should hang their heads in shame.

@@Robslondon ... and you're more than welcome! My claim to fame re London was a layover at Heathrow on our way to Germany/family when I was about 12 years old. On a similar note around Christmas themes, you may want to venture further afield to Hampstead and visit The Holly Bush. It’s an old traditional pub, tucked a bit out of the way behind the Clock Tower opposite the tube station. Apart from a beautiful pub the food there is rather tasty. They used to make the best Toad In The Hole there. Truth is most pubs in Hampstead are historic and classy but that one has the additional Christmassy connotation. But be careful if it’s icy when you’re leaving as you walk down the hill.

Another charming and beguiling video from Robslondon. I was hoping the video would be a walking tour on how these pubs are decked out for Christmas. A friend and I use to frequent the well known *Pete's Tavern* for their garlic and oil spaghetti and garlic bread (all to die for) in the back, the restaurant part of the tavern, on Irving Place in Manhatten. O. Henry, the writer, wrote his stories there sitting at a corner window to the right of the entrance. Well, one time we went during the Christmas holiday. *WOW! Was the inside ever decked out resplendently! Better than even Mary's could accomplish!* So I was hoping to see how the pubs in London are decked out. Nevertheless the video was fine, especially the moment I heard you mention Charles Dickens! *Happy New Year to you!*

@@Robslondon As to the Angel...never made it across the Thames (beyond Tower Bridge)...but I love the Wapping pubs along the opposite shore: Town of Ramsgate, Cptn. Kidd, Prospect of Whitby...even Grapes down in Limehouse. London is always great. Back in 1987, when being a student at Hull University, we demonstrated against the Thatcher government starting at Marble Arch. Even earlier, in 1980, I attended my first rock concert...at the Hammersmith Odeon. Good times! Now it has become a long way from Calgary, Canada. But hey, my letter to Ealing arrived today...it took only 8 days.

Hello Rob Absolutely Fabulous. Love the history. The Lamb is a very popular pub as everytime we go by it is overflowing. I will check for the old Tom entrance the next time we are there. Love the story about the family of statues and how you can make a difference. Merry Christmas Stay Safe Chris and Sandra of Canada

@@Robslondon thank you for taking the time to respond. Not a pub of course but an interesting spot. Wesley’s Chapel across from Bunhill Fields burial ground. The men’s toilets are from the Victorian era. Sadly after the BBC ran a story thrives came in and stole the toilet pull chains. Thomas Crapper was embossed on the chain links.

Excellent film from you, as always! I really do appreciate your films and the effort you put into them. Watching I feel like I’m _with_ you. My husband and I are both from London. I grew up in Bromley by bow. My husband grew up 3 streets away from me, but we met in the Midlands! Fate eh? Sorry, I’m rambling again lol. But I do love watching and listening to your work. I’m so glad I stumbled across your channel, obviously I immediately subscribed. Happy Christmas to you too.
