I live in the states and I can't believe how much of London's history is still preserved. It's sooo nice to see. I find it hard to believe how many alleyways, corridors and side streets there are. Right among the modern buildings are bits of major historical things that a lot of people probably don't even know are there. I also love the face that London has the little blue signs to tell you what a particular place is. I have to admit I find it a bit creepy how narrow and hidden these places are. It is no wonder how Jack the Ripper got away with the murders. I am not able to afford to travel overseas and this has been such a pleasure for me to see these things. Thank you so much Sinead and friends.

This is the only part of London I know reasonably well (i live in North Essex) and rarely have travelled to london unless ive gone to a music or sporting event. My father got cancer last Christmas, and this is the hospital I a have taken him dozens of times since then, because of the hospitals expertise in ground breaking stem cell replacement treatment that he needed. The level of care he has received has been second to none, and thankfully he is now in remission. People do moan about the NHS, but the the care my dad has received has been nothing but perfect and hastily treated. I know all these little side streets and the memorials and history of the area, spending hours wandering around waiting for my dad to have different treatments. Everything from radiotherapy, chemotherapy and then finally the harvest and replacement of his stem cells. I love this part of London, its very interesting.
@lorimiller43012 жыл бұрын
It's so very different from here, in Canada. You are fortunate to have such top-notch care for your dad. I pray he recovers fully and you never have to return, unless you want to. I think it helps recovery to be in beautiful places. I hope you both have many long years together. 🙂

@@lorimiller4301 Thanx for your concern. My dad is doing as well as could be at the moment, and all the recent results have been positive so far. The cancer he has (myeloma) is currently not permanently curable, but it can be treated long term, and recent treatment and research has improved astronomically in recent years according to the doctors treating him. They said 10 or 15 years ago, the cancer he had would have been far harder to treat and put in to remission, and hopefully my father will pass away with old age before it returns. The treatment he has had has been brilliant. I will definitely be giving money to cancer research in the future, as a go to charity of choice.

Hi. I have just come across your videos today. I would like to say thank you for taking the time to tell us and show us the history of these places. I'm fascinated and love ghost stories. Plus being shown some of London is a real treat as I live in lancaster. I visited London once I was in a children's home but even though I'd left it, they still let me go to hide park with them. When we got of the train (I can't remember which tube station it was) everyone was halfway up the escalator, I was still on the platform and all I could think about was American werewolf in London lol I legged it up the escalator. 1 annoying thing is you interrupt the guy when he's talking to you talk over him

Sinead, there is something about your storytelling ability that makes you such a natural for this ghost tour. Matt and Rob are great as well. I have been a HUGE fan of walking tours since I took my first Ripper Walk back in 1993. They are a wonderful way to connect with a location, its history and people. I hope to make it back someday to take one of these tours in real life. Until then, the tours on this site are the next best thing to being there! I was glad to hear, when you were discussing Mary I, that you brought up the fact that, compared to her father, she was hardly a brutal monarch. I don't think she got the moniker "Bloody" because of patriarchy though. I think it's because the winners get to write history and those that followed were Protestant. There is nothing surprising that they would mislabel a Catholic monarch in order to sully her name.

I've done a couple Ripper walks as well and they are always interesting. But if you're a reader like me you have to hold your tongue when the docent/tour guide says the wrong thing! They don't always know what they are talking about!

@@silverstuff182 It's difficult to have the "accurate" data with things like the history of Jack the Ripper. New theories surface all the time , there is little hard evidence and people get very involved with their personal favorite suspects. I actually enjoy hearing different ideas and talking about them with people that have different opinions. It's hard to be wrong when nobody really knows what the truth is!

I've been to the Viaduct Tavern after I read about in "Walking Haunted London" written by the lovely Richard Jones( I met him at one of his ghost tours and he happily autographed the book) I took photos of the Newgate cells and one picture was riddled with orbs. It was awesome! I highly recommend everyone go there.

The Architecture of the Church ⛪ is absolutely Stunning! They dont make buildings even close to as beautiful as they used to. The Church also is so much larger inside than it looks like it is from the outside. Thank You for Sharing! ❤

Worked at Barts and loved it. The lift ghost is true, for a code everyone would use the stairs. A woman who lost her baby and drowned herself in the fountain. One of the nurses I worked with saw her. There was a little boy in the children's ward who is seen running and playing. His different clothes makes him stick out. The central square was supposed to be a plague pit and supposedly you can hear screams and cries in the underground tunnels. Also you were supposedly you can smell smoke and hear screams and when maintenance was done underground ashes were found at the right level for when burning at the stakes were done. Glad to see it being modernized as it deserves. Best hospital.

Which part of the hospital is the lift in question? I have been to the hospital a lot recently, and have got to go again this Friday, and it would be interesting to have a look if it is a public part of the hospital.
@lesleysmith512 жыл бұрын
It was in the the Queen Elizabeth building. Sometimes people report children playing in the lift but it's her. She was a student nurse who got told not to follow a neuro patient into the lift and did and he murdered her or that was what got told. I did hear from a few people that the lift followed them up the floors and the door would open !

I just adore this channel! Look forward to every time a new video is uploaded. The real raw history with no sugar coating. I had a history and government teacher in high school that taught just like you. His name was Mr. Cross and he was a treasure trove of true information of facts, dates and events, with a little extra info on the side. The good stuff! Thank you again for all you do! It is much appreciated!

How scarey is Queen Mary's punishment section, Would love to see the tour go there on a dark windy night!! Astrology and alchemy was considered witchcraft. Amazingly, much was learned in this time, but illegal in that period.
