Robert Gale and Robert zemeckis wanted to get Michael J fox whenever they first explored the script for this movie but he was unavailable at the time so they hired that kid that played in that movie mask with Cher what was his name the guy that played Lance on Pulp Fiction the heroin dealer, anyway they secured Michael J fox after they shot like half of the movie and had to go back and reshoot the whole movie over again you should watch the behind the scenes it's really good

And in a bit of irony, I've seen plenty of interviews with Thomas F. Wilson, the actor who plays Biff. He's actual a really nice, personable guy. Funny how the actors who play the biggest jerks tend to be the exact opposite in real life. The Delorean was a real car made of stainless steel with gull-wing doors! There is a gold-plated one here in Reno at the National Automobile Museum! Loved seeing the 50s set at Universal Studios in California! Fun movie and fun cameo with Huey Lewis as the guy who tells the band that they’re too loud!! Commercially, if I recall the car was a dud. If you were parked in a garage or next to another car you couldn’t open the doors. Tesla took that into consideration with their more recent car with gull-wing doors.

I am the same way. I wanted to be Michael J Fox and Alex P Keaton when I was a kid. All the while I was entirely unaware that MJF was actually a big leftie along with the rest of Hollywood. Keaton was created as a character to articulate tropes about Republicans in the 80s but actually came off as relatable to the very people the writers of Family Ties were trying to lampoon. I think also that character was interesting juxtaposing him beside his democrat parents informed by the 60s. It was a great show, Alex was a great character, and their are few actors who better personify the optimistic spirit of the 80s than Michael J Fox.

Pretty crazy but I guess when you are young and have the opportunity to do it you do it. Fox replaced Eric Stoltz btw as Marty McFly halfway into the production of that film.

@Rob Squad Movie Reactions I’ll bet you didn’t notice that a different actor played Marty’s dad in this sequel. Crispin Glover, the actor who starred in the original movie, actually sued the studio. They had kept a mold of his face from the first movie and made prosthetics from it so that the replacement actor would resemble Crispin as closely as possible. The suit resulted in the screen actors guild making a law that now prevents a persons likeness being copied and passed off as being the same actor.

When you watch the movie again, be on the lookout for the more subtle changes that happened after Marty returns to 1985. One is the name of the mall was changed from Twin Pines Mall to Lone Pine Mall (Marty killed one of Peabody's pines). Also, when doc was on the clock tower in 1955, a piece of the ledge broke off. It is still broken when Marty returns to 1985, but it wasn't before he left.

This movie is taught in screenwriting classes as the perfect script. Every line is there for a reason, every plot point has a set up and a payoff. Themes are introduced and repeated for a paid off as well. Oh and they put real alcohol in the flask when Marty takes it from Lorraine to prank Michael j Fox. in the car scene.

Christopher Lloyd does such a fantastic job as Doc. He brings such an endearing quirkiness to the character. He loves playing Doc so much and loves to go to any Back to the Future event. He and Michael J. Fox have been really good friends to this day. Their chemistry is what makes the film and the series. Christopher Lloyd really shines in the 3rd film in which he has a really sweet romance with Mary Steenburgen's character.

This movie is a Swiss watch of planting and payoff. The reason Doc looks worried about the photo right before the climax is that George knocking out Biff IS altering the future, possibly catastrophically, and yet the photo is restored anyway. That's why he saved Marty's letter and knew to wear the vest - because he knew that on balance, the future would still be close enough to the original. Also, the fact he knows Marty will grow up in Hill Valley means he will be primed for when they meet anyway; '55 Doc already has knowledge of the future to a degree, so why worry?

When this movie came out in 1985 I was just getting out of bootcamp for the Navy and didn't get a chance to see it in the theater, but when it came out on HBO, I got to see it for the first time. I fell in love with this movie and have seen it so many times I cannot count. I really enjoyed watching you two trying to understand references that you are just too young to have gotten. The funniest part was when you didn't know that Ronald Reagan was an actor before he became a politician. Oh, and yes, Delorean is a real car. Fun fact, one of the originals that were made for this movie (there were 5 made) was painstakingly restored by Christopher LLoyd (and friends) and given to Michael J Fox to raise money for his foundation for fighting Parkinson's disease.

When this came out I saw it at the theater. We had no idea there would be a 2 and 3 at that time. When the movie ended the whole theater did a collective OHHHH! No one wanted it to be over. Micheal J. Fox has a special place in my heart, been a fan since his role as Alex Keaton in the sitcom Family Ties. I love this movie, and the fact that Huey Lewis and the News are a major part of the soundtrack. Honestly, I wouldn't spend a lot of time on part two of this franchise bc I found it very confusing. Part 3 was great and I do recommend it.

I am SO excited that you reacted to this. It's just a classic now and one of the BEST movies out there. The sequels are a must. I would like to make two suggestions for you. The first is a RE reaction to The Power of Love by Huey Lewis. This time if you do the official music video - you can see the Back to the Future scenes and references in it. Two is a movie request for The Secret of My Success. It is my other favourite Michael J Fox movie. It's a business type movie - but SO funny. I think you both would love it. So much fun watching your reactions! Yes, there was a car called a Delorian and the doors opened just like that. Yes, Ronald Reagan was an actor, back in the 50's, I think. One thing you didn't pick up on: When Marty was playing "Johnny B, Goode" at the dance, one of the band members made a phone call to his cousin who was looking for a new sound. That phone call was to Chuck Berry. If you haven't reacted to Chuck Berry doing Johnny B, Goode, that's an absolute must in a live performance.

Mark Campbell did the vocals for "Johnny B. Good." The scene where Marty's grandfather yells for his wife. He and the actress who played his wife --Francis Lee McCain, her character's name is Stella. So he yells "Stella!" in a loud voice. The actor, who played Marty's grandfather was George DiCenzo did a play together called "A Streetcar Named Desire." Marlon Brando did the movie in 1951. The single most memorable thing in the film was when Brando's character yells "Stella!." George was trying to copy that. A little known factoid.

It always makes me laugh when I hear the younger generation say a movie is slow or starts slow. It is called good story telling and building toward the denouement. I get it, the majority of todays movies, which make up most of their movie experience, are just jammed packed with go-go-go action. What they don't seem to realize is that these fast paced movies are done to hide the fact that they can't create, write, or direct properly... so they cover it with "action". J.J. Abrams movies are a prime example of this. That is why when you leave most movies today, you don't really remember anything about it.

When doc and marty are standing in front of the delorean when Einstein was in it and marty was moving away but doc was so comfortably standing there saying watch this watch this. KNOWING it was gonna work "for the first time" was because he already seen it work with lightning in 1955. Even tho he hadn't invented it yet. 😅

This movie is a masterpiece, I've seen it maybe a hundred times. The acting is great, you can see that the actors enjoyed the filming. Christopher Lloyd is top class. At the beginning, the question arose, why everything used to look better... because we were younger, my friend :)

The actor who plays Biff is in real life deeply religious and the sweetest family man. The actor playing the Doc was a serious theatre performer prior to this role and took a lot of persuading to do the film. Of course afterwards, he admitted it was the best decision he had ever made.

The entire "Back To The Future" series is a good trilogy to watch. You two are tapping into so many great movie franchises. I remember when gas stations were actually called "service stations".. and they'd come out and give you full service pump your gas, check your tire pressure and oil.. then it turned into to catagories you had pumps that were self service which means you pump your gas and they also had full service. .Now, it's just a gas station, get your own gas but prepay.. This movie makes me sad cause I was a teen when this movie came out and seeing the 80s makes me sad cause it was a wonderful time to be a teen, but then when it shows how it was in the 50s which was my parents childhood, they would tell me how the 50's was such a wonderful time to be a kid. I don't know if you all will look back at your decade of childhood and think the same, I hope not.. I hope it gets better in the future rather than worse. but you all gotta check out part 2.. and 3..

You guys have to watch all 3 movies, it's a trilogy. It's one continuous story split into 3 seperate movies. Each one pick uo where the previous movie ended. Don't wait to long before watching parts 2 & 3. I guarantee you will like them!

In my opinion, back to the future is basically the perfect movie. The writing, the action, the acting, the directing, the themes, the characters, their relationships, and the pacing are all magnificent. There are a few other movies that I would consider to be in this category. The Shawshank redemption is one. The sixth sense is another.

I'm 56 and it's still my fave movie of all time, and for many others also I suspect. Just a perfect combo of plot, characters, comedy, sci-fi and soundtrack. The fact that BTTF is still embedded in pop culture 37 years later is further testament to it's greatness.

Most of the scenes, with Michael J. Fox, we’re filmed at night. He was starting in a popular TV show, “Family Ties, and the producer wouldn’t let Fox take any time off to film the movie. So he had to sign a contract to film at night. He slept about 2 hours per day for months. The kid almost killed himself. But the movie made him a superstar.

Love the Back to the Future movies!! Grew up with them! My husband and I went to the theater summer of 2020 just when things were opening up here again but no new movies playing in the theaters. So our movie theater showed Back to the Future. We had to see it even though we’ve seen it a billion times on tv. It was fun! There was a group of three young teenagers in front of us that appeared to be their first time seeing it. It was a joy for us to see their reaction. So many “Cool!!” comments from them. Such a classic and fun movie!!

they had full service gas stations in the 80's... check tire pressure, check all your fluids and top off what you needed, wash windshields and gas you up as a premium service. in some states you still have to have full service.

This iconic movie is another one I remember seeing dozens of times from my days as a movie usher when I was 21! These were the days! Lea Thompson as Marty’s mom is still hilarious to this day. Did you know that Eric Stoltz was first cast as Marty, but Stephen Spielberg didn’t feel he was funny enough, so he was recast with MJF and the scenes reshot!

At the beginning, when Marty's band was auditioning and the man stood up with a megaphone and said they were too loud ... that was Huey Lewis and he sings the theme song at the beginning of the movie. It's so sad what has happened to Michael J. Fox! He's such a good actor and the Back to the Future trilogy is still great!

Thank you for watching these older movies and heling us remember the nostalgia and excitement of them from decades ago. You do great remembering many details and piecing things together. IMO I feel this is one of the great trilogies ever made. The links between the three and the continuity between them are great. There are so many iconic lines and moments used in movies still today. So other boys were up there before. Plus later we see just how promiscuous she is. She probably liked being watched.

This trilogy was a great set. Loved watching it growing up. The “To Be Continued” wasn’t in the theatrical release of the movie. They added it to the home video release when they knew a sequel was greenlit. Yes the Delorean was a real car. They chose that car cause it made it more plausible that people in the 50s would think of it as an alien craft. Did you guys notice the name of the mall when he went back to the future? Earlier in the movie it was the Twin Pine Mall and when Marty ran back there to save Doc the sign said Lone Pine Mall showing that the pine he took out when he left Peabodys farm changed the future.

I grew up watching movies. My parents knew a lot about it, and as a child I watched thousands of movies. And, despite having seen so many, I must tell you that Back to the futures is one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of all time. Not only because of his great performances, like Thomas F. Wilson's or Crispin Glover's (and above all that monster of the theatrical stage that is Christopher Lloyd) but also because the script for this film is the most perfect ever made. It already is in this first part, but to better appreciate how everything fits together, you have to consider the entire trilogy as a single film.

Being a teenager for the 80's, 12 in 1980, Back to the Future sums up the 80's for most teenagers, I love this movie as I remember seeing it at the theatres, what a reaction. I have the trilogy DVD set of all 3, awesome, thanks for reacting. I LOVE Jay in this. Just so anyone who is reading knows I am also commenting as I am watching, I'm just seeing the downtown 1955 scene and as I hear reactors wanting to have lived in the 80's my era would be mid 50's to mid 60's. When Amber said "Doc cracks me up" he does me too, it is hard to say whether I like Marty or Doc more, my favorite Doc statement is "Great Scott." At the end of Johnny B. Goode Marty says "You're not ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it, yeah the 70's and 80's due in parts to the electric guitar and bass made some of the best music ever made, they produced good band after band, and good song after song. The thing I like best about watching Back to the Future is it keeps me young in a way and let's me know my feelings are still in tact. Thanks again so much as when I watch movie reactions this movie is always the one I look for first to see if someone has reacted.

Look up on the internet for all the little things they hid in this movie. Because when Marty comes back to the present he has changed it. Not only his home and his parents and family but things in the town got changed Little Things. For instance it was to Pines something rather and Marty crashed into one of the pine trees so when he comes back to the present it's just Pinetree something little things like that that got changed because of his dealings in the past

Yeah the Delorean car was a real car that you could buy, it was between the years 1981 to 1983, so they were out of production by the time this movie came out in 1985. Another fact for you, Michael J Fox wasn't the first choice for the Marty character, it was an actor Eric Stoltz, and the time machine was originally a fridge freezer, yeah hard to see that hey lol, but it's true. Other movies to check out are, Who Framed Roger Rabbit Flight Of The Navigator Mask ( starring Cher) awesome movies.😎👌 Yes Ronald Reagan was an actor before he became the president.

Michael J Fox was actually their first choice, but he was busy filming a TV show so they went with Stoltz. It was not working at all, however, since Stoltz saw the story as a tragedy and wasn’t giving it the light-hearted spin it needed. He was fired, and fortunately they were able to negotiate things so that Michael J Fox could work on both.

Fox so bad they worked it out by letting him shoot Family Ties during the day and Back to the Future at night, so he got virtually no sleep during that time.

*One point to mention about that left-hook.* Back in the day, many left-hand kids were forced to use their right hand for everything because left-handed people were seen as dumb. This caused a lot of nervousness/anxiety in them back in the day. Watch how George uses his right hand to do everything. Pay attention to George's weedy right jab. The first time he gains confidence is when he is forced to use his left hand, his natural hand, and his new story carries on from there.

The other 2 Back To The Future's are definitely worth it, one of the great, rare, unintentional trilogies, as I understand it & yes! Please do some John Hughes movies like The Breakfast Club. Both BTTF and BC my parents had recorded on blank VHS tapes back in the day. Always makes me nostalgic, remembering the tapes with the movie titles handwritten on the sides. I'd pop them in our player and watch them all the time. This reaction kept me smiling all the way through, loved to see both of you enjoying this classic. Other people have said this but I'll also add in that the guy at the beginning while Marty's band is playing who says that they're just "too darn loud" is indeed Mr. Huey Lewis, whose band performed the actual songs (including the song Marty's band is starting to play) in the movie. You've reacted to them a few times, I'd recommend "Hip To Be Square," "If This Is It," "I Want A New Drug" and "Heart And Soul." What's so great about them & therefore perfect for this movie is their blend of 80s and 50s style sound, you can really hear it in "If This Is It." Watching the music videos are a must, always the perfect kind of fun. "Hip To Be Square" has the distinct vibe of leaving your phone with your friends and coming back to find that they recorded a video with it. The aging in this movie for the actors is so crazy. As a kid, I just accepted it - these are the parents and Biff in the future and this is them in the past, like we really did time travel to see them younger. As an adult, it's so impressive seeing how well the actors did portraying the characters at both stages of life + how they changed when Marty got back and the make up dept. did fantastic. I'd imagine same sort of stuff like they did with Max Von Sydow in The Exorcist, no one realized how much younger he was in real life. "Camp Nowhere" from '94 is such an awesome movie that also has Doc and Biff in it, and as their actual ages. It's a kid's movie but it's honestly a really great film & intelligent coming-of-age story. Still holds up as an adult & has some excellent music in it. "I Live By The Groove" is unparalleled in awesomeness.

The whole trilogy is absolutly classic! The reason what makes the first movie so good and watchable for every generation is it is not so much about science stuff but about family.I mean, we all know our parents as "old people", but did we ever think about that they were teenagers, too? About hte movie itself: 1: DeLorean was a real car brand that existed just a few years and with BTTF they became cult cars. The film makers decided to use a brand not existing anymore so they don't have to pay for using it. 2. The guy at the audtion who told Marty they are too loud is Huey Lewis, who delivered the songs "Power of love" and "Back in time" for the soundtrack. 3. Did you noticed the name of the mall has changed when Marty returned 😉 4. The ending supposed to be a joke, but the movie became so successful, they HAD to do a sequel and somehow create a future Hill Valley. But you'll see in part 2 😉 Greetings from Germany! 🤘
