"What It Takes" was Aerosmith's 17th Billboard Hot 100 charting single, peaking @ #9 in 1990. It was their 6th Top 10 single. I like their early stuff better. Specifically, "Make it", "Somebody", "One Way Street" (Tyler's best vocal track of all time in my opinion). I think Tyler's early vocals are better as well as the songwriting and instrumentation. It was at this mid 70's time period when Aerosmith was at the height of its popularity and success. Their "Rocks" album is pretty dynamic as well. The reaction circuit is stuck on the later, commercialized version of Aerosmith. The "made for TV and movies" version.

This is the Texas Longhorn Ballroom. My grandparents were managers there. I have many pictures of us there. They closed in the late 80s early 90s. Sat empty for a while, then Aerosmith production people bought it just to film this video and trash it. Turned around and sold it after. My grandparents meet the band Alabama there before they were famous. My mom has signed albums they gave to my Grampa. So many memories. The video games and pinball are the same ones. Played as a kid in the 70s 80s. The Dallas cowboys cheerleaders posters, checkered tablecloths, bull horns over the stage every single thing was exactly the same, left untouched for this video! And all of the extras were told about the video through a local country radio station cause they wanted actual country fans in the video.
